As well the drastic name change Twitter will be getting rid of the infamous Bird logo too.
After a late-night e-mail sent to Twitter staff by Elon Musk himself, the company will be rebranding. With instant messaging, banking, and more, the social media platform will now become an “everything app.”
In the email Musk said “We are indeed changing to X” and that it would happen “today”. Before signing off with a salute emoji, he added, “This is my last message from a Twitter email.”
Twitter’s new chief executive Linda Yaccarino tweeted a picture of the company’s new logo. A white X on a black background late Sunday night: “X is here!” Let’s do this.’
In April, Musk altered the company’s official name to X Holdings Corp, a homage to his previous venture, X.com. Reflecting his vision of developing an all-encompassing app, “X,” that combines social media and payment functions, akin to China’s WeChat.
According to Yaccarino’s tweet, X will be “powered by AI” and promises to “connect us in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.” These new changes align with Musk’s previous concept of an ‘everything app”. Aiming to integrate social media, instant messaging, banking, and other ventures into a unified platform.
Sunday night around midnight ET, he began tweeting extensively about the Twitter rebrand to X, the single-letter name he has frequently used in company and product names.
It all began with a tweet saying, “Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” Followed by a second tweet proposing that a compelling X logo was shared, leading to the global launch on Monday the 24th.
Subsequently, Musk updated his profile picture to the company’s new logo. Which he referred to as ‘minimalist art deco,’ and changed his Twitter bio to ‘X.com,’ now redirecting to twitter.com.
The future of Twitter /X remains uncertain, and only time will reveal what changes lie ahead. With Elon Musk having numerous plans for the company, there are exciting prospects in store.
