There will be a new co-op mode coming to Vampire Survivors’ on the 17th of August called Couch Co-Op.
The game developer “Poncle” recently announced the new co-op mode for Vampire Survivors and has now shared additional details.
In an upcoming free update on August 17, all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, will support four-player cooperative play, unlock new achievements, and add new weapons.
In a post on Xbox Wire the developers stated:
“In today’s post, we wanted to explain in more detail how the co-op mode will work, why we’re adding it to the game, and some new details of what you can expect when the co-op update hits.”
They explained the look of the update as follows:
“Let’s start with what the co-op update will look like. Imagine this: A dog, a tree, and an old man smelling of garlic and death itself meet in a dairy plant. And they turn the whole screen into a wild bullet hell! What sounds like a joke will soon just be a normal stage in Vampire Survivors – well, normal for Vampire Survivors standards, and hopefully fun to play!”
Players will be able to continue their save file and select additional co-op players on the character select screen before starting a level with this update.
One screen will be shared by all players. Each player will have to choose a character before launching the game.
Only one player will receive a level-up with each rotation, as each group member takes turns in a specific order. It depends on how many people are playing which determines how many weapons you can carry.
The post went on to say:
“This means for maximum survival time you’ll have to decide who picks which weapon, but for maximum chaos you could shut your eyes and select anything!”
It’s also possible that something might happen if your coffin isn’t protected if you die or a buddy turns into a coffin and revives over time.
Lastly, the game will unveil a brand-new item called The Friendship Amulet.
Instead of concurrently leveling up, players will do it in turns. If a player dies, all experience points they have accrued pass to the person behind them.
The recently added accomplishments go beyond couch multiplayer and have no limitations confined to it.
You can earn them by playing by yourself or with friends.
They also release a trailer showcasing the new co-op mode.
The official trailer for Vampire Survivor’s Couch Co-Op mode:
They decided to add a co-op mode to the game Vampire Survivors because it “felt a little awkward to have a game meant for only one Vampire Survivor.”
Vampire Survivors is playable on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One (with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass). The 17th of August sees the release of Couch Co-op as a free patch.
