We Present Haylstorm_SA The Multifaceted Content Creator

Artist, Content Creator, Gamer Girl, and mom, Watching her stream is like hanging out with a friend with her down-to-earth chilled manner.

Don’t be fooled by her laid-back demeanor, she has her head screwed on straight and her fingers in a lot of pies, with big plans for the future.

Many of you will have heard of her or seen her streams. I personally first saw Haylstorm_SA in 2020 at the rAge Digital Expo where she hosted games of Marbles and did some amazing art online which she then gave away to one lucky viewer. I remember thinking “this woman is a natural and so relaxed behind the camera.”

So of course we wanted to know more about her and reached out to her for an interview which she kindly gave us.

Here is how the interview went down:

As is customary we always first ask the obligatory Who is Haylstorm_SA and what is your backstory?

“I’m Hayley (hence Haylstorm), a freelance graphic designer, artist, gamer, streamer & mom from Cape Town, South Africa. I am sponsored by Razer through Apex Interactive and I’m also a Streamloots & Stream Raiders partner.
I started gaming from a very young age, my father used to do computer training courses so my sisters and I were always around computers. I used to be the only female at our high school lans but I didn’t let that stop my love for gaming.“

What is your role in the gaming community?

“I am most known for my art & design in the local streaming community by providing stream graphics and emotes to streamers which I do live on stream but I am also a variety gamer in my free time.
I recently participated in the ACGL Women’s day Apex Legends Duos Tournament and claimed first place! I also aim to provide family-friendly content and encourage positivity wherever I go.”

What is your favourite genre of game?

“I enjoy a variety of game genres depending on what I’m in the mood for. This includes FPS (Apex Legends, Overwatch), RPG MMO (World of Warcraft), Survival (ARK), and Civilisation games just to name a few.”

What is your preferred gaming platform?

“PC, keyboard, and mouse all the way as I have never owned a console so I am terrible with a controller. I also use my PC for my design & illustration as well so having a good workstation is a must.”

What is your favourite thing about gaming?

“I love how gaming can connect people from all around the world. It is a way my sisters and I can spend quality time together since they both moved overseas. I also met my husband online through a local ARK server, true story!”

What are your current projects and what do you have planned for the future?

“This past year has been a huge learning curve of not only being a parent but trying to fit that in with my busy freelance & streaming schedule. I’ve since made some changes that puts my daughter first but also allows me to continue my online career.
I am very grateful for my amazing community that has stuck by me during this time. I’ve got a few things in the works such as developing my brand into merchandise as well as being casted on a gaming TV show that will air later this year.
I’ve also got something exciting in the works, a monthly art contest with epic prizes to showcase all our local artists & designers while providing streamers in need with stream art.”
