Assassin’s Creed Review

An unforgettable adventure…

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Massive Open World
  2. Total freedom to do as you see fit
  3. Become a master assassin
  4. Realistic environments
  5. Brilliant story line

Gameplay & Controls:

She handles like a dream. The controller configuration is pretty much perfect for this game. The gameplay is smooth and very fluid.  Character control is rather tricky to get use to in the beginning, but that is due to the combat mechanics of the game itself. They offer us a brand new take at performing combat actions.

Once you master these, then the real fun begins. Mastering them is no big deal at all to be frank. They did a marvelous job here to ensure that the game runs and plays well and I assure you that it does.

Here
Here it comes…

It’s 1191 AD, The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. As the assassin Altair, your tasked with putting an end to these hostilities. As part of an ancient brotherhood of assassins, you combat the evilness of men, and that is where you come in.

You are tasked with tracking down several key important figures that play vital roles in the current conflict. Your investigations will lead you to Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus. How you go about a mission is entirely your choice, you have complete freedom to stalk and track your targets. Scale towers and fly across rooftops, the entire environment is an extension of your capabilities.

No
No ordinary treasure!

To help with these deadly assassinations you not only wield deadly weapons, but also skills that will rival any master swordsman, then there is the assassins most feared weapon, a wrist mounted hidden blade for instant assassinations.

Graphics:

Beyond realistic and absolutely marvelous. The game engine that was built and used for this game did more than work wonders. It created a visual masterpiece.

The game world that we explore is created with massive attention to detail. The massive open world that we travel through to get from city to city, has wonder after wonder to look upon. Whether it is the people roaming the lands, soldiers patrolling or the incredible flora that is growing everywhere. All these details add incredible realism to this world.

It's
It’s not much, but it’s home…

When you enter the cities, you will be more than amazed. The amount of historical accuracy they invested into creating these places goes above and beyond anything else that we’ve experienced to date. The colour scheme used paints the perfect picture of what those era’s looked like.

The living breathing environment is another marvel; people act and react to you instantly. You can be as silent as a fox, or unleash terror on the streets, and people will react to your actions. The realism here is incredible to experience.

Leap
Leap of faith…

Character models were created just as stunningly, the facial features really add to the already realistic atmosphere we have, then there is the nifty pop up where we can change the perspective of cutscenes to view them from a different angle. Simple but very effective.

Sounds:

Through and through a masterpiece. This world is so incredible, and it owes quite a part of that to the brilliant soundtrack that helps bring life to all these creations.

Stealth
Stealth is key!

Then there are the background sounds, which further livens up the worlds and makes the experience that much more memorable. Last but not least would be the voice actors that did a perfect job brining their characters to life with the brilliant voice over world.

Replayability:

Assassins Creed is a massive open world full of wonder. Besides the main campaign that we have, there are a number of smaller side missions for us to partake in. Completing these side quests grants one quite the bit of aid in each city due to the unique rewards they offer.

Time
Time for some answers.

Every area has a number of scattered flags for you to collect and then there are the Achievements/Trophies for you to track down.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

I was beyond blown away with this game. A lot of titles claimed to be next gen games offering these or those new features, but when it came to game time, they fell quite short.

The way you approach each target truly made these experiences so much more, the complete freedom to go at it in your own way was beyond exhilarating and it made the missions much more fun.

Such
Such beauty.

Assassins Creed however not only delivers on that statement, but it takes it one step further by raising the bar where next-gen gaming is concerned. The brilliant control scheme we have here offers us a new and unique perspective in terms of gameplay and combat.

This new control scheme runs smooth yet offers sharp and very responsive actions to ensure that your gameplay is liquid without any pause or halt. Be it whilst you are just taking the scenery in or making a getaway from a small army, these controls will aid you, not hinder you.

The historical accuracy invested here, yet blended with some mystery and fiction is genius. It instantly sets the tone of the game, giving you some clue as to what is going on yet completely surprising you when the action really unfolds. Truly a memorable experience.

Your
Your journey is over!

This is by far one of the best games I’ve experienced to date.

Become the assassin you never knew you wanted to be…

All through the eyes of an ancestor…
