An absolutely brilliant and memorable experience lies in wait! Through its simplicity it is quite impressive and very remarkable.
Some key points that this game offers:
- Complete Sandbox experience.
- Random event occurrences.
- Simple and challenging.
- Indie Gem 4/5.

Gameplay & Controls:
The game has complete controller support so if you prefer that method you are in luck. For those that want to stick to the original method, the game makes use of the keyboard mostly. It does take a while to get used to the layout and keys, but it is perfectly doable and quite comfortable as well.
The gameplay is a mix of casual adventure, exploration and a whole lot of fun. You start at the bottom in a small town with a few coins to your name. You hit the general store buying some supplies and make ready to set off on your first adventure.
Once you go to port the world map opens up where you can choose your destination, info about traveling distances to the various locations are visible. You have two options; traveling to a location, or attacking it and taking it over. There are a lot of random occurring events that really add surprises and quite memorable experiences to your journey.
There are a number of side quests that you can take on whilst traveling from town to town. A s a pirate you can never have enough gold, and once you have a fair amount, you can always head to the shipyard and upgrade to a mightier class ship.
This little gem offers this and so much more.

Graphics:
Well we have a 2D based game here and that usually means pixelated graphics. There are two types of gamers; gamers that enjoy pixel-based games and then those that can’t stand it.
For those that do enjoy it, you have a gorgeous little game here that is full of vibrant colours. Every detail of this game is warm and inviting; an absolute joy to be in. You can customize your pirate to look and dress in a variety of choices and then add a whole set of colours to him/her.
Every little town has been beautifully designed, with their own weather system and buildings. The day and night cycle as you sail through the ocean is just as beautiful to experience.
Under the settings panel we have a few options to customize how our game is played.

Sounds:
The soundtrack for the game has been beautifully implemented into the game. The background music enhances the overall gameplay; whether you are in port stocking up on supplies or sailing the ocean there are gorgeous sounds in the background to ensure your journey is not lonely.
We have a few volume control options to make use of as well. The characters would have been livelier if they had voices of their own, but that is a feature we usually don’t associate in pixel games.

Replayability:
The game has a neat leader board and stat tracker that tracks all your comes and goings across your various playthroughs. So, no matter what you do it is never for nothing. It does count for something.
The game never ends, you can slowly build up and take over every town as you move forward, completing quests as you go along. The fun only ends when you choose to stop playing.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers ahead:
Don’t Sink hides a lot in its simplistic design. Most of the time games like this go unnoticed because it is 2D and or pixelated. These days there are a lot of low budget games floating around the digital stores so a lot of really good games go unnoticed because they look similar.

Finding and thoroughly enjoying a little Indie gem like this that has so much to offer is exhilarating. There are so many unique little add ons to the game. The managements tools where you govern your Islands, adjusting how your Islands function and prosper. You can set how much of the population farms, mines, focus on trading or defending the Island.
Uninhabited Islands you can claim and build up from scratch intro profitable outposts. Your ships have a variety of attack options, and even the means to board other vessels. That and the different cannon shot options gives you different options to attack other ships with.
This really is a gem that you should give a chance, you will not be disappointed.
