  4. Mini Game: Card game
  5. Challenges
Cazador
One of many new enemy types.

Gameplay & Controls:

Fallout New Vegas offers partial controller support for those that play the game on PC; however, it can still be thoroughly enjoyed with said device. For those that prefer the keyboard and mouse, you have a wide spectrum of keys and choices at your commands.

Under the hood you can customize and rebound the keys to your specific liking should they not be already. The game handles and plays beautifully and quite comfortably.  Character handling and movement is smooth and very responsive as well.

In a Post-apocalyptic New Vegas, you have the means to make the entirety of it your oyster. The world is large and full of places to discover, loot and plunder. There is danger, chaos and choices for every action.

Just like before everything we do is governed by Karma! You are what you do, so whether you choose to be a shining knight or the scourge of evil itself, the choice is entirely yours. Numerous factions have been added to the game with quest lines of their own; each of these factions has a reputation system for you to build up or break down entirely. The more they like you the better the rewards and added benefits and the less they like you the more they will try to kill you.

A little entertainment never hurt anybody…

There is a brilliant new story line for you to follow and experience with some tough choices lying ahead! The game gives you complete free reign, you can go where you want and do whatever you want when you want it, you are not governed by main quest completion for the majority of what New Vegas has to offer.

New Vegas has a lot to offer, that is for sure, a massive new word awaits you; a new Companion wheel has been added to the game to easier manage and navigate your companions while their out and about with you. Not only do you have a wide arsenal of weapons to choose from but now you can modify and enhance them further to make them so much more potent.

That is still not all; there is tons waiting for you in the Mojave Wasteland…

Now what do we have here?

Graphics:

For a game of this size and scale the visuals look very pleasing and quite beautiful.  Character models have been thoroughly designed to offer us realistic and visually appealing characters to work with or decimate. Ghouls look more hideous than ever and mutants look a lot more vicious too.

The game worlds lighting has been massively improved to offer us a more vibrant, warm and appealing game world. The weather system in New Vegas is also quite realistic and very memorable to experience as we go about exploring Mojave.

Under the hood we have numerous settings to customize how we run the game.

PC
Choices has to be made here…

Sounds:

Another marvelous add on to the game is the Character voice acting that has been done beautifully ensuring that each of the NPC’s we come across not only looks as realistic as can be but sound and appear as living breathing characters.

Background sounds add another layer of realism to the game ensuring that there is never any silence as you explore a building or travel the big open wasteland. There are always some background noises, whether it is a nice rhythm or just noise from creatures around you, you will never be lonely on the big open lonely road.

The soundtrack for the game has been marvelously implemented into the game; it not only lightens the mood, but it also sets the mood for the entirety of the gameplay.

Under the hood we have some options to customize the sound and volume controls for the game.

The scenic route.

Replayability:

Just like its predecessor Fallout New Vegas does not have a new game plus feature. However, the game world is so large and full of places to discover that it will keep you busy for weeks. There are loads of side quests to discover, and complete and so much more that merely playing the game to 100% once will keep you busy for a few weeks.

Up up and away…

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers ahead:

Fallout New Vegas is the next big thing where Fallout games are concerned; Sure enough the game was met with some negativity and hesitance, but after spending some time in the game, one can easily fall in love with what it has to offer. If you’ve paid attention to what I’ve been saying you will know that New Vegas has a lot to offer.

The new mechanics like the companion wheel is a nice add on and improvement to the franchise. The new mini game card game is another neat add on. Double the number of guns! That is just insane and so awesome… One can never have enough guns, that is for sure.

Stealth
These bad boys pack a serious punch!

All the added factions along with their reputation systems is another excellent add on for the franchise; giving us much more to do and work towards. The challenges are another fantastic expansion to the game giving us tons of miniature endeavours to work on as we go about taking over the Mojave wasteland.

Last but not least; Hardcore mode.

That’s all she wrote, find out more by playing this fine fine game…
