Please note that this Review may contain spoilers from the Base game
Some key points that this game add on has to offer:
- Brand New Episode featuring Ardyn.
- New items that get carried over to the main game.
- Extra game mode.
- New levelling ability
Replayability:
This DLC adds a new Episode to the game. It shares the same replay value as the base game with limited exploration and collection mechanics.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Episode Ardyn allows you to experience the truth behind the grand scale of mysterious happenings throughout the course of Final Fantasy XV. Live the tale through Ardyn’s eyes; experience how cruel Fate can be!
I won’t go deeper into the story; it is something you have to experience for yourself. Prepare yourself, because it is worse than what you think it is.
It is advised that you watch the Anime Prequel video before starting the DLC; below I will provide the link to it if you wish to view it. Do note that it is in Japanese with English Subtitles.
Ardyn is a powerhouse on his own; he possesses his own set of Royal Arms and the ability to daemonify his enemies. He has full control over Ifrit as well and can summon him at will to attack his enemies.
You will get to explore the city of Insomnia freely, destroying festivity decorations and taking down the Kingdoms forces as they try to stop you. You get to stop by a shop and pick out some new hats if you so choose. Ardyn will also gain AP that you can use to unlock new abilities among others. When you daemonify an enemy AP is also granted, this episode focuses heavily on this ability and it truly showcases how powerful Ardyn truly is.
This Episode takes place during the Founder King’s Day festivities.
Ardyn summons Ifrit to wreak havoc on the city with two goals in mind. One is to destroy the Wall amplifiers and the other to kill the young King Regis Lucis Caelum.
It is during the latter’s events that the truth behind it all is revealed and Ardyn is finally granted the answers as to why he has had to suffer for these long years.
This DLC might not be for everyone; especially since it paints Ardyn as a not so bad guy. However, do note that no one is ever born evil. For a Hero to exist, a villain first has to be created!
This DLC is more than worth it; the gameplay is brilliant, the story line stunning… It truly is memorable!
