Aesthetics:
With its large sleek long body and matt black style, the Leviathan stands up to its name from the very first glance.
The five speakers are visible through the mesh from the front, and the Razer emblem stands out prominently in the centre of the sound bar.
The sound bar itself comes with four round removable feet so you can choose which design suits you best. The feet have different angles at which they tilt so you can choose to tilt your sound bar or leave it flat. It also has a cutout in the centre for better cable management which is handy.
The buttons were placed on the top of the Sound Bar at an angle so if you are sitting at your desk it would be difficult to see which button you are pressing which is a bit of a design flaw but not too much of an issue.
The overall look of this sound bar is understated and subtle and will blend in with your setup no matter where you have it displayed.
Two 2.5-inch midrange drivers and two 0.75-inch tweeters are hidden below the grille, each capable of handling 15 watts of continuous power.
Optical and 3.5mm audio inputs, a power connector, and a port for attaching the supplied subwoofer are all housed in a recess on the panel’s bottom edge.
The subwoofer, on the other hand, is fairly large, but its form is quite sleek, and the rounded edges are pleasing to the eye; it almost appears like a huge keyboard key.
Sound Performance:
The sound is incredibly rich and clear, with a distinct bass sound coming from the subwoofer, which pushes an incredible amount of air through its 5.25-inch driver, producing a deep, bass-heavy sound that doesn’t distort even at maximum volume.
As you switch from your PC to another associated device, such as a smartphone or tablet, you will enjoy smooth, stutter-free sound thanks to a low-latency Bluetooth connection.
When linked to your mobile device via Bluetooth 4.0, there’s no obvious buzz or whine, as with cheaper Bluetooth choices, and playing the speaker at full power yields no distortion or heavy vibration to impair your listening experience.
Virtual surround sound technology, which has been enhanced with Dolby technology, allows you to hear everything that is going on around you, whether you are exploring breathtaking fantasy realms or the most advanced cities in the galaxy.
The immersive sound will make you feel as if you are right there in the game when you play games with the soundbar on your desk.
Even dialogue has been given more depth and resonance, making it a pleasure to watch your favourite film.
Durability:
Both the sound bar and the subwoofer are comprised of high-quality, long-lasting materials. They both stand firmly on your table or desk and will not wobble or skip across your desk if the volume is turned up too high which will give you peace of mind when cranking the tunes.
The sound bar itself weighs around 2kg which makes it heavy enough to be sturdy and ensures it won’t fall over accidentally.
The Subwoofer is 2.3 kg in weight, so it will stay put, and it is a solid block, which adds to its durability.
User Friendly & Functionality:
The soundbar can be used on PC for immersive gaming sound, or for your TV for great movie-quality sound, or simply just to blast your favourite music and set your neighbour’s teeth on edge.
The top of the Soundbar has seven buttons that control the various capabilities of the Soundbar. The source button, Bluetooth pairing button, Dolby digital for 5.1 surround sound, mute, modes button to switch between the numerous modes offered, and volume settings to make it louder or quieter are all present. And of course the power button on the front of the bar.
The sound bar also comes with mounting brackets, allowing you to put it on the wall, where it will serve as a spectacular piece of artwork as well as offer incredible sound.
The Subwoofer is simply plug and play, where you plug it into the Soundbar itself and you are on your way to enjoying a well-rounded sound experience.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Overall an amazing sound system with a deep and immersive sound and it is truly worth its price tag.
We first purchased this soundbar since it does not provide real 5.1 surround sound, which was causing issues with the software we were using. Additionally, cable management is far superior to that of competing speakers.
One downside is the fact that there is no remote included so all controls need to be changed manually and with the placement of the buttons this can be tricky at times and makes this system better suited for a desk.
Besides this only flaw, we found the Razer Leviathan Soundar Bluetooth speaker to be an amazing piece of hardware with many features and the sound itself is exactly what you would want from this type of sound system.
We highly recommend this system for anyone who needs deep, rich immersive sound for Gaming, movies, or music.
