Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster Review

The good ol days… So much nostalgia and memories right here!

Please note that this Review may contain spoilers from the Original game

Some key points that this Remaster offers:

  1. The original experience
  2. Remastered HD Visuals
  3. Remastered sound effects
Beautiful
Beautiful visuals!

Remastered:

You won’t say that this is the same Resident Evil 0 we played back then…  It has been totally overhauled and upgraded to offer us a brand-new HD experience.

Several of Resident Evil 0’s systems and features were reworked to offer us a more current take on the game. Some of these changes are high-resolution textures; These were created from scratch and includes 1080p support for the next-gen consoles. The screen ratio has also been overhauled.

Boss
Boss Fight!

We still have the original 4:3 ratio or we can make use of the new 16:9 widescreen feature. I do have to note here, even though the visuals were majorly overhauled, it still offers you that same experience that the original release does, it just does so with updated visuals to make the experience so much more memorable and vivid!

Sound effects were also updated to offer 5.1 surround support and I assure you this totally changes the experience; things sound and get a whole lot creepier than it did back then. Unfortunately, voice acting remains the same; There is nothing wrong with it per se, merely that the voice acting back then was done a lot differently than it is today. The scripts and dialogue’s come across cornier than need be, but it can easily be attributed to being part of the original experience.

Not
Not a good boy!

This one might just be the best overhaul entirely. Control schemes were a lot different back then, however, they went and made an alternative more modern control scheme for us. We still have the option to play with the original variant or make use of the newer more modern one. The choice here would come down to personal preference on how you would like to control the gameplay. Either works perfectly in their own way!

Last but not least is the added game mode Wesker Mode, unlocked after completing the main game. Experience the remaster from the eyes of the Ultimate Resident Evil baddy… Overpowered and pretty much unstoppable… He comes packed with his own unique abilities and powers.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:

All things considered; the remake is a pretty amazing game. If you played the original from back in 2002, the HD Remaster is going to bring back a whole lot of memories.

What
What sharp teeth you have…

If you have never played it, or if you are new to the Resident Evil series, then you will get to experience a Zombie Horror Survival like few others.

The Resident Evil game franchise pretty much created the Horror Survival genre back in the day. Limited ammo, narrow corridors, and Zombies. As then you are in for one major memorable experience!
