Gameplay & Controls:
SteamWorld Dig 2 Is available on several platforms with controls dedicated to each unique platform. Having the chance to experience it on a hand held and console game I can say with surety that the game plays and handles well and comfortably on both of these platforms.
My final variant was on PC, my main source of gaming too. The game can be played with keyboard and mouse or with a gamepad/ controller. It comes down to preference here. However, playing on a controller makes it much more controllable; at the heart of this game it is and will always be a platformer; so quick jumps and stops are key here and a controller does this the best.
I completed it with keyboard and mouse for those that want to know, a tad more difficult but you get used to the gameplay and it gets easier and totally doable.
SteamWorld Dig 2 is the sequel to the original; with several changes and major improvements. It is the same fun game you remember; mining deeper and deeper filling your pockets up and then heading topside again to sell your riches. Using your hard-earned cash to buy new equipment or upgrade already owned ones to better versions. In the original we played with Rusty the old miner bot, in SteamWorld Dig 2 we play with Dorothy the new protagonist as she searches for her lost friend.
Another new feature that has been added to the game is mods. No not the kind your thinking of but the kind where you gather cogs hidden throughout the game that can be installed into possible mods for your equipment to upgrade and improve them.
Graphics:
We have the same brilliant Steampunk theme and vibe out in the Wild Wild West. The visuals have been improved and updated. The game looks a lot smoother and a whole lot prettier than before.
Character models have received a major overhaul, there are a lot more characters present in the game world this time and they all have their own unique appearances and personalities.
Level design is a lot more vibrant and welcoming as well, the details are a lot clearer and very inviting.
Under the hood we have a few settings we can make use of to customize our game.
Sounds:
Another spectacular add on to this already brilliant game. The soundtrack really is amazing, they went above and beyond to bring us this music. It doesn’t just add music to the game, but it enhances the overall quality of it, it enhances the game and makes it so much better.
Exploration…mining and everything is so much more fun and the music and other sounds play a big role in it.
Under the settings there are a few settings to control the volumes for your game.
Replayability:
The game is fun, it is full of secrets and it offers a whole lot of addictive-quality game time. So just getting your fill of the game will keep you busy for a long time.
However, this is the type of game that can always be replayed because it is that enjoyable.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is through and through a masterpiece! Everything that this game offers is pure joy and great bliss. The improvements to the game really make it such a pleasure to play. The tools and equipment we had from the original has so much more potential now with the added mods. The new tools and equipment offer a lot more options and gameplay that you can lose yourself in this game very easily.
The story line has been improved as well, we have a broader and richer story to experience this time, every moment in this game will be more than memorable. As far as platformers go this one is for the history books; It is no mere platformer, it is full of mechanics from other genres that add more value and quality to the game.
