Prepare yourselves for a Mythological experience like never before!
Some key points that this game offers:
- New Game + Mode
- Multiplayer
- More than 20 character classes
Gameplay & Controls:
The game is played with both Mouse & Keyboard; primarily your mouse is used for moving your character and attacking enemies or interacting with NPC’s, with the keyboard being used for additional actions such as spell casting or potion usage.
Gameplay is pretty much what you would expect, you start off as a little Level 1 character with no power, no money, no nothing and you slowly carve out a name for yourself as you go about slaying monster upon monster, donning better and better gear as you pick them up of off the dead carcasses you leave in your wake, or if you are really lucky a chest you opened will contain some sweet loot for you to up your power level some.
As you go about questing and slaying monsters you gain experience which levels your character up enabling you to do more damage as well as receive more damage, do not forget the skill points which can be used to power up powerful abilities for your warrior.
Something unique to Titan Quest; unlike most games where we choose a character class to play with, here you create your male/ female character and as you level up you unlock mastery points which can be used to unlock your choice of skill panels thus creating your character class the way you want to, and with an additional mastery point becoming available you can create your own unique combo class to truly devastate the monsters within these lands
Graphics:
Titan Quest is pretty gorgeous. There is a realistic look to everything the game has to offer. Whether it is the lay of the lands that you explore, or the gorgeous Architecture that you get to witness.
There is a lot of fine detail in the game; this in turn gives a beautiful setting to everything the game offers. Character/ Monster design was done beautifully. There is a wide variety of monster types that you will come across and they all look unique in appearance.
Each Act is uniquely created representing the region you are in, as close to historical accuracy as they could get. The monsters in each region were created just as brilliantly, with plenty of detail giving them all unique looks and appearances, Within each act are a number of different chapters and getting to one chapter from the previous you travel through various jungles and deserts moving from town to town if there is a town, each of the regions are beautifully created, giving us that fun to explore vibe.
Last but not least your character, not a lot of custom options are available to them, you get to choose what colour tunic you wear and that is it, however as you equip different gear and weapon pieces they are visibly seen on your character which is always awesome, especially since new game plus modes offer much better and more potent looking gear.
Sounds:
The sound & music really does bring all of this together, setting a nice peaceful tone and setting as you explore these ancient runes slaying vile beasts as they dare halt your progress to slay other vile beasts.
The music tones do change as you explore the world, you can explore with some casually soothing music or experience a dramatic build up as you prepare to face a boss monster. The music does really enhance the game and add to the liveliness of the game, the in game sounds also add to the overall experience of the game, no hack and slash is complete without that hack and slash sound.
Replayability:
It is one of those RPG’s that you can play over and over, solo or with some random internet people or a group of mates, the game offers all of these choices for you, what’s more is the new game plus modes, you start the game on normal and once you have completed the game you start it again on an increased difficulty, which also means better loot and gear that can be obtained from in game chests and monster drops.
The game has 28 different classes to experience giving you more than the opportunity to replay the game to truly test out different class combo’s as well as grinding for gear while you are at it, especially since we have an item transfer feature.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:
The story albeit not as grand as one usually wants still plays out beautifully. It lacks some cinematics’, but if you follow all the dialogues in game closely you still piece together a decent story. One just has to imagine the pictures.
The gameplay and game mechanics were implemented pretty well. The game plays beautifully and it is a lot of fun to play. This can be done solo or with a friend, so we have that as a bonus too.
Titan Quest has a lot to offer, give it a shot and you will not be disappointed.
The story pretty much plays off at the end of the days of the gods, where man took his destiny into his own hands.
But things are not that simple, that separation is forced by an evil force, a very old one with the intent of releasing those that came even before the gods. The Titans, yeah, we all saw that movie, now we get to experience it for ourselves in the form of a game, and that is where I leave it, no further spoilers.
