Are you looking for a Clicker with a difference?
Some key points that this game offers:
- Gather the resources nature has gifted you to create potions
- Upgrade your garden and add more useful plants
- Lure creatures into your garden with specialized totems
- Make gold by producing potions made with the natural resources in your garden
- Create little helpful spirits to help you gather resources, by sacrificing little animals
Gameplay & Controls:
The controls are very simple point and click with your mouse to achieve results. Your plant slots are on the bottom of the screen and can be upgraded to hold more seeds. The store to purchase the plants that produce the ingredients you need and the animals to sacrifice is located on the top right corner of the screen.
Your inventory of potion recipes and their prices are conveniently situated on the top left of the screen.
The game plays off in your very own voodoo garden nestled deep in the forest with your little hut in the background.
The aim of the game is to plant the various plants and trees on offer and gather ingredients from the plants and all the little critters that wander into your garden and use these items to make potions and items to sell.
The more you make the more you can upgrade your garden and introduce totems that will attract the various creatures faster such as, snails, snakes, bees, frogs, and crocodiles.
You can also purchase animals to fatten up and sacrifice (don’t worry it’s all very pc), and they then help you by gathering the plants, flowers, and honey as they become ready for harvest.
Your little spirit pets don’t unfortunately help with gathering any creature parts so you will still have to make sure you are in front of your screen to catch the critters as they wander into your garden.
This can make the gameplay a little tedious but if you need to unwind after a long day this is a nice game to sit and relax to without too much thinking involved.
Graphics:
The graphics for the game are cartoony, simplistic, colourful, cute, and extremely striking. They are done really well and each flower, plant, and tree is unique, different, and quite beautiful. The little critters that cross your path are really cute too, they are very simplistically drawn which is an artwork in itself.
This game is a work of art through and through and each and every critter and creature is immediately recognizable for what they are. Be it a bunny, snail, snake, frog, pig, goat, chicken, dragonfly, or bee, each little animal has its own character.
The scenery of this little world is alive with the smoke rising from the fire and little orbs flying around in the air. Even the weather changes with rain falling down which momentarily chases all the critters away giving you the chance to pick more flowers while they are gone.
Voodoo Garden is fun and enchanting and if you choose it can be left on in the background for your ghost to gather flowers while you get on with other things.
Sounds:
The sounds are perfect for the game, with each different action having its own unique sound alerting you to happenings in the game.
The ambient music sets an atmosphere of voodoo and creepiness but it’s not too annoying like some games ambient music can be.
Each click and each movement has a unique sound. Do beware though that the little critters don’t make a sound when they go past so if you have the game playing in the background and are waiting for snakes, frogs, or snails to enter your garden you won’t hear them.
You can also adjust the volume of the music and sounds if you so wish.
Replayability:
The Replayability of this game revolves around the relaxation factor of the game. It is a fun and easy game to unwind to after a tough day, but other than that it can get monotonous to replay over and over as it’s the same actions repeated over and over.
I personally use this game if I need to relax my brain and just get out of my mind for a little while.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:
As far as point and click games go this is one of the better ones I’ve played. Voodoo Garden has a very unique premise to the game where you have your very own little home in the woods and can go about collecting the ingredients you need for your voodoo potions without any outside distraction or interference.
It is just you and the critters and crocs in this beautiful lush world that never ceases to yield the resources you have need of.
It is fun and relaxing and you can get pleasure from upgrading your trees, ghost animals, plants, and totems that attract the animals. As you upgrade these items you will unlock more potions that can be collected for more and more profit.
The only thing that could deter one from playing this for too long is the grindiness of the game as there are no set missions to do just upgrade and unlock new potions
This can become tedious but I found that I personally come back to the game often just to unwind my brain and visit my little critters every now and then. So if you are a fan of point and click games and are in need of a game for relaxation then this Voodoo Garden should definitely find its way into your games collection.
