He, who stands with me, shall be my brother! Let us go forth and purge these traitorous scums from the sight of the Imperium my brothers…

Some key points that this game offers:

  1. Continuation of the Original Story line form Warhammer 40, 000: Dawn of War II
  2. New Powerful Librarian Unit.
  3. New Multiplayer Races.
  4. New Units for all Races.
  5. New Hero’s for The Last Stand.
We
We are hot on their trail!

Gameplay & Controls:

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising continues the story from where the original left off. Our recruiting worlds still recovering from the brutal invasion by the Tyranids, and now out of nowhere the impossible has happened…

The game is still played in the same style as the original, all that awesome tactical fun is still right here for our enjoyment. Some changes and improvements have been made; you can look forward to more weapon types, new equipment, and several other new goodies. Equipment traits have been changed as well, now all your non energy based abilities have been divided into categories and as you break the equipment crates a random asset pick up pack can be picked up; for example, explosive packs refresh your satchel charges whereas the strategic pickups add a tarantula turret to your counter, each pack adds only one of each ability.

The
The originals!

The game is still mostly played with the mouse but the same shortcuts that existed for the original still available with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising.

Graphics:

The graphics are still just as gorgeous as you remember, character art and detail have been updated to look just as or even better than ever. All the old levels and areas you visited have been updated to showcase how the war with the Tyranids have affected them.

Brother
Victory was ours this day!

The new areas have been given just as immaculate attention to detail to ensure that they keep up with the high standard of visual beauty that Dawn of War II delivered.

Movies and animated scenes look better than ever, they are pure joy to experience, this is a simply a gorgeous sequel.

Burn
Burn these heretics!

Sounds:

Just as pleasing, stunning and enjoyable as ever. The battle music climbing and climbing as your chainsaw revs up right before you Purge these traitorous Chaos scum…

The music is everything you remember, all the characters have retained their original voice actors, Gabriel Angelos with that Zealous Voice that just drives you to do more, to be more to be the Space Marine that the Emperor needs you to be.

Dark
What heresy is this!

The in game sounds give the battle fields their own unique lively feel as usual, the voices and sounds from the enemies as they spot you or as you destroy them… The true Warhammer 40, 000 feel right here.

Replayability:

The campaign can again be played on several difficulties and with a Co-Op partner, then there is multiplayer that got a nice update with new characters and Races, The Last Stands also got an update with new Heroes for you to take into battle, so plenty to do.

More
You should of brought more!

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers Ahead:

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising follows up well from where the original left off, the story continues beautifully. Some of the other changes and add ons to the game is the Purity/ Chaos meter, as your squads commit acts that go against the will of the Emperor or Codes Astarties, they will gain Corruption and we know where this leads,  but acts to gain redemption are also present, so should you have made a mistake, a road to redemption will show itself to you my brothers.

Not
The bigger they are!

There is a terrible and dark secret that sits at the heart of our Chapter, betrayal, lies and deceit, steel yourselves my brothers…

When it comes down to the numbers the campaign is a tad short, whereas the original had numerous random and defence missions that were always available to take on, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising has a fixed set of missions but no other random missions which does limit the fun that the campaign mode offers.

Team
Look at our might.

The updates to the Multiplayer and The Last Stand are both beautifully done and really add a layer of freshness to the game.
