Starfield Factions Breakdown

Starfield Factions Breakdown

Starfield is big, that’s no secret, and in between it’s mass are multiple factions that you can interact with.

It’s nothing new. Factions have been a mechanic that has been present in past Bethesda games. Fallout 3 and Oblivion for example.

These usually come with their own story lines to further immerse yourself in the game world and expand your knowledge of the game with additional lore.

Don’t forget the loot you receive for completing these quests. Starfield has several of these. They really help paint the picture around the settled systems, their history, and their existence.

Starfield itself takes place roughly 20 years after the colony wars. A war between two of the factions, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective.

These factions are spread out through the settled systems, tolerating or embracing an uneasy peace. You the player are part of the Constellation, an exploration faction if you will.

At this moment there are five factions if you include the Constellation. The other four are the United Colonies, Freestar Collective, House Va’ruun, and Crimson Fleet.

Each faction has its own story, history, and purpose for existing. These existences or goals you might say is where you come in. Joining these factions will give you missions where you will aid in their goals. Some are lighter than others whilst others being on a more serious note.

United Colonies:

The United Colonies stands as one of the two interstellar governments within the Settled Systems and holds a position of immense power in the Starfield universe.

The capital of this governing body is situated in New Atlantis, a city located on the planet Jemison in Alpha Centauri. The United Colonies boasts control over a civilian-based military force known as the Vanguard, comprised of individuals who have sworn to protect the United Colonies.

This establishment came into existence three years after the initial arrival of humans in the star system in 2159.

Freestar Collective:

Freestar Collective

The Freestar Collective, the other interstellar government in Starfield, operates as a libertarian confederation based in the Cheyenne System on the planet Akila.

Notably less affluent than the United Colonies, the capital city of Akila City exhibits signs of wear and resembles the atmosphere of the Wild West. An example of this is The Stoneroot Inn, designed in the fashion of a Western Saloon. Founded by Soloman Coe in 2189, the Freestar Collective boasts a distinct character and financial standing.

Crimson Fleet:

The Crimson Fleet comprises numerous pirate captains scattered across the star systems, though it maintains a central headquarters in The Key, a space station formerly owned by the United Colonies located in the Kryx System.

House Va’ruun:

House Va'Ruun

House Va’ruun, a secretive cult deeply devoted to the Great Serpent, a deity with intentions to consume the universe, remains shrouded in mystery. Available information indicates their hostile nature, making it a challenging endeavour to gain their favour.

So, there you have it, a detailed overview of all the available factions to interact with in Starfield.
