It’s not the same as other games, that’s for sure…
This article may contain spoilers, so be aware.
Similar to many contemporary games, Starfield also includes a New Game Plus mode.
Normally New Game Plus means tougher enemies and redoing the story line all over again.
The developers have done something unique with Starfield. You can easily get lost in the side content for Starfield, sinking hundreds of hours into the game before reaching the end. However, it’s definitely worth checking out.
To put it plainly, the main Campaign, or the story at least is pretty much an endless loop. Once you complete the main Campaign walking into the light at the Unity you will start a new game. You are reborn/ reincarnated as a Starborn allowing you to replay the game from the beginning.
However, Starfield made some changes so you can play an altered version of the game this time around. You also have access to some new dialogue options, a fancy new ship, and a unique set of armor.
The big questions we are always eager to know.
What carries over to a New Game Plus?
The answer may not be good for those who sank hundreds of hours into building and setting up outposts and amassing a fleet of custom ships.
The only thing that carries over to a New Game Plus is your character’s physical experience that they gained throughout the Playthrough. So your leveled and accumulated experience carries over. Unlocked skills and progress they made towards the next level along with your powers are the only things that carry over.
In New Game Plus, you lose items like gear and weapons, along with accumulated wealth, ships, homes, outposts, recruited crew, completed side quests, and faction missions.
Most of these make sense and some don’t. Normally we keep gear and homes or ships in this case, but this time around that is not the case.
So what’s the reward for completing the game?
First off you can start a New Game Plus mode as many times as you want. At this stage, there is no limit to how many times you can do it.
The rewards though might not be to everyone’s liking. You can choose to side with the opposite side this time and your ship’s name changes to showcase how many times you have been reborn.
It is also worth noting that with every completion of a New Game Plus your ship and Armor seem to get more powerful. However, the increase doesn’t seem that decent when comparing one run to just another completed run. Similar to obtaining power a second time, the name gets a Roman numerical value behind it.
At this stage, that’s what we have discovered so far. If any further information comes to light we will be sure to share it.
