A quick guide to The Beast of White Orchard quest.
This quest is one of the main quests of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. It is suggested that you be level 3 or more before attempting this quest.
Wild Hunt’s third main quest is The Beast of White Orchard. As a subquest to Lilac and Gooseberries, it must be completed before the player can progress.
Yennefer’s location can only be determined after Geralt and Vesemir complete a contract to get rid of a griffin from White Orchard.
The quest objectives indicate that you should ask the relevant individuals for assistance in finding Geralt’s intended goal, but this is not the case. Go to the locations where the patrol was attacked or where the buckthorn is growing if you happen to know the locations.
It bypasses some interesting story lines and may affect some side quests, so it’s not recommended. The objective of speaking to Tomira is skipped if you already have buckthorn in your inventory or stash before speaking to Peter Saar Gwynleve, whereas visiting the griffin’s nest or inspecting its attack site skips the dialogue with Mislav.
Below is a walkthrough of the quest:
- Ask the herbalist about buckthorn
- When you go to the Nilfgaardian camp and gather Buckthorn in the river, this part of the quest will be marked as completed before you talk with Peter Saar about Gwynleve Tomira’s location.
- Use your Witcher Senses to find the hunter
- Talk to the hunter
- Follow the hunter
- Kill the wild dogs 350 XP earned based on the Story and Swords!
- Ask the hunter where he found the bodies
- Examine the site of the Nilfgaardian soldiers’ death using your Witcher Senses
- Follow the Nilfgaardian soldiers’ tracks using your Witcher Senses
- Search the griffin’s nest using your Witcher Senses 500 XP earned based on the Story and Swords!
- Talk to Vesemir.
- Prepare to fight the griffin.
- Meet Vesemir in the field where you plan to ambush the griffin.
- Kill the griffin.
- Take a trophy from the griffin’s corpse.
- Collect your reward from the Nilfgaardians.
This quest will end with Geralt being told where he can find Yennefer and he will also receive payment for slaying the Griffin.
