According To Sony, Metal Gear Solid 3 And Silent Hill 2 Remakes Coming In 2024


Is this the year Konami bounces back…

According to a new hype reel released by Sony Interactive Entertainment on Thursday, Konami’s remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 this year. Neither game had a confirmed release date from Konami, but it appears that both projects are now set to arrive in 2024.

Konami claims that the new Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Delta, will be a “faithful recreation of the original story and game design” that will ” that will “[evolve] the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.” Metal Gear Solid Delta will also feature “unprecedented graphics and immersive sound,” according to Konami, and early footage of the remake is certainly visually impressive.

Metal Gear Solid Delta will be available for Windows PC and Xbox Series X, in addition to the PS5. Metal Gear Solid 3’s original release on PlayStation 2 will be 20 years ago in 2024.

Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium and Layers of Fear games, is remaking Silent Hill 2. Mateusz Lenart, creative director and lead designer at Bloober Team, stated in 2022 that the remake will “preserve the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 so exceptional, while also modernizing many aspects of the game’s overall gameplay.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is a limited-time PlayStation 5 exclusive. A PC version is also being developed.

Konami is working on a variety of Silent Hill projects, including new games from NeoBards (Silent Hill f) and Annapurna Interactive and No Code (Silent Hill: Townfall), as well as the ongoing interactive experiment Silent Hill: Ascension and the new film Return to Silent Hill. The release dates for the remaining unreleased projects are unknown.
