Bungie has revealed that the most anticipated Destiny 2 feature, an in-game Fireteam Finder, is finally in the works and will be available soon

With new story updates and a massive expansion in the works, Destiny 2 is shaping up to be one of the most content-heavy online games available. While Bungie works on Season of the Wish and the subsequent release of The Final Shape, a long-awaited feature is nearing completion. If you’ve been wishing for an in-game group finder, Bungie has just revealed that one is on the way in the form of an official Fireteam Finder.

Few features have been requested as frequently by Destiny 2 fans as the addition of a party finder system to the massive space game. After years of anticipation and frequent requests, the developer has finally revealed that a Fireteam Finder system is on the way to make gathering a group for in-game content much easier

Instead of using mobile apps or posting online to find teammates, you’ll be able to use an integrated system similar to other games’ party finders. According to Bungie, the new Finder will first go through a stress test and beta period to see how well the feature works with millions of players worldwide using it at the same time.

“We’ve made a ton of progress on Fireteam Finder,” says the developer. Players will be able to make campaign, crucible, dungeon, gambit, raid, seasonal, vanguard, and other content listings. The beta version of the new feature, which begins with a stress test on Thursday, November 30 and goes live later in December, will hopefully “prove that Fireteam Finder scales to millions of players.”

Bungie’s goal is to deliver a “first-class” Fireteam Finder experience before The Final Shape’s release date, which will be accomplished through “a schedule of multiple testing phases that progressively refine the new feature.” While the team has not specified a specific release date for the Finder’s final version, it is aiming for a full release in “late January.”

The new in-game Finder isn’t the only new party system on the way. According to the developer, an out-of-game party feature is also in the works. “Both the website and Companion app will remain available until the new Fireteam Finder, both in-game and out-of-game, is ready,” Bungie said. The “new out-of-game Fireteam Finder that’s fully integrated with the in-game system” will not be available during the upcoming beta testing period.

On the developer’s website, you can learn more about the Fireteam Finder and Bungie’s plans for the beta period. Unfortunately, the new group finder feature will not be available for testing at the start of the upcoming Destiny 2 Season of the Wish release date, but rather later in the season. The developer blog will keep us up to date on the system’s progress and any relevant details about its full launch.
