Among-Us-Servers-Down-Due-to-DDoS-Attack

The past 48 hours have been a nightmare for Among Us Fans in North America as the servers have been attacked by a DDoS Attack

The issues started with the extremely popular Among Us on the 28th of March when the game suffered online connectivity issues.

Their nonchalant Twitter account stated:

“we have a sabotage going on lol, NA and EU servers are getting DDoS’d 🚨service will be offline while the team works on fixing it, but might take a bit, hang tight!!!!! sorry!!! March 25, 2022”.

The servers are currently being worked on by Innersloth and they updated the situation with a Tweet stating:

”they may come on/off but will update u when we think they’re stable, sorry!!!”

Unfortunately, fans are having a tough time in all of this while the developers seemingly are taking this a little lighter.

One tweet stated:

“Can’t believe I’m working on a Saturday right now; I was supposed to go and get a croissant.”

Although they are probably working really hard behind the scenes to rectify the issue.

After an individual named “Eris Loris” discovered a means to hack millions of games, Among Us experienced a far-reaching spam attack that affected as many as 5 million gamers in 2020.

For those who aren’t aware, a DDoS attack is a (distributed denial of service) attack. A DDoS attack entails the deployment of a botnet, which is a collection of connected online devices that are utilized to flood a target website with bogus traffic.

DDoS attacks, unlike other types of cyberattacks, do not seek to breach your security perimeter. A DDoS attack, on the other hand, seeks to make your website and servers inaccessible to genuine visitors. DDoS can also be used as a decoy for other malicious operations, such as bringing down security appliances and breaching the target’s security perimeter.

A successful distributed denial of service attack is a highly visible occurrence that affects a large number of online users. As a result, it’s a popular tool for hacktivists, cyber vandals, extortionists, and anyone else trying to make a point or promote a cause.

So, what are the attacker’s motives? Are they trying to make a point, or champion a cause? It has not been revealed yet but Innersloth has stated that the culprits were “Salty over being ejected.”
