Unfortunately, Apex Legends Mobile will be cancelled on iOS and Android in May.

The official announcement came from Respawn entertainment that the award-winning and highly popular Apex Legends Mobile will no longer be playable as of the 1st of May 2023.

The announcement was made via Twitter with a link to a Q&A section on EA’s website.

In an update, Respawn said:

“Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players.”

Due to the popularity of the game, which has only been available for eight months, this move has surprised and shocked fans.

The team cites content development issues, stating:

“Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence.”

The decision was reportedly a mutual one between Respawn Entertainment and EA.

The game is still playable until the 1st of May but the in-app purchases will cease on the 31st of January from the App store and Google Play store. EA has reiterated that there will be no refunds for real money purchases.

EA stated:

“In terms of what players can expect from here, today marks the beginning of a ninety (90) day window before we sunset the game.
As of today, all real-money in-app purchases will be removed (IE you can no longer buy Syndicate Coins), and the game itself will be removed from the App Store and Google Play Store, making it unavailable for download.
Any Syndicate Gold players currently own can be spent until operations are ceased on May 1 at 4 PM PDT, when the game will shut down in all regions.”

This move luckily has no effect on the full PC version of Apex Legends which is good news for fans.

Respawn said about this revelation:

“As a franchise, Apex Legends is strong and we’re looking forward to sharing exciting updates in the future.”

EA has also announced that it will be stopping development on the unreleased Battlefield mobile saying that “as the industry has evolved” the plans around the franchise have changed.

They have also confirmed that the next Battlefield game was already in pre-production. And also that work was continuing on the latest game in the series, Battlefield 2042.

All in all, this is unfortunate news for Apex Legends Mobile fans, but happily, the Apex Legends series is still active and new games will be released in the future.
