Pro Players Targeted Mid-Game, Leading to Postponement of Regional Finals
The recent Apex Legends regional finals faced disruption as multiple pro players fell victim to hacks mid-game, prompting a warning from an anti-cheat expert against playing other EA-published games until the issue is resolved.

During the regional finals, pro players Genburten and ImperialHal experienced hacks firsthand. Genburten was granted the ability to see players through walls and terrain, while ImperialHal found himself equipped with an aimbot, both incidents captured in video clips. The matches had to be abandoned due to the hacks.

The perpetrators behind the hacks remain unidentified, with various speculations circulating online. However, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attacks at present.
In response to the situation, the Anti-Cheat Police Department advises players to refrain from playing any EA-published games until the issue is addressed. Furthermore, they recommend avoiding games protected by the ‘EAC’ anti-cheat system.
PSA: There is currently an RCE exploit being abused in @PlayApex. It is unsure whether it comes from the game or the actual anti-cheat (@TeddyEAC ). I would advise against playing any games protected by EAC or any EA titles once they have fixed this or can comment.

Concerned about account security, the expert advises participants in the affected Apex Legends regional finals to change their passwords for all associated accounts, including Discord and email.
Following the incident, the official Apex Legends eSports body announced the postponement of the North American finals. While the rescheduled date remains undisclosed, the organization assures they will provide further updates soon.
Due to the competitive integrity of this series being compromised, we have made the decision to postpone the NA finals at this time.
