More changes are inbound, as staff are being shuffled…
According to The Verge, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer revealed in an internal memo to employees that a number of Activision Blizzard executives will now report to Xbox’s President of Game Content and Studios, Matt Booty. Blizzard President Mike Ybarra and Activision Blizzard Vice Chairman Thomas Tippl are among those involved.
Furthermore, King and Blizzard Vice Chairman Humam Sakhnini will leave in late December, while Activision Blizzard Executive Vice President Lulu Meservey will leave in late January.
As @XboxP3 shared with the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard teams earlier, I’ll be departing the company next month. My last day as CCO will be Jan. 31.

People have asked how I'm feeling and above all I'm overwhelmed with gratitude, so please forgive me for some unvarnished… pic.twitter.com/1O02JZOc6i
Aside from that, Spencer states that the leadership teams for Activision Publishing, Blizzard, and King “will remain in place,” with no plans to change the “structure of how the studios and business units are run.”
He also mentions that most employees’ day-to-day work will not change, and he’s excited to share more details publicly about what everyone’s working on for 2024 “when the time is right.”
Since accusations of wrongdoing at Activision Blizzard started to surface in 2021, Kotick has become a contentious figure in the role of CEO, but with his departure, the future might be a little brighter at Activision.
