Assassin’s Creed Mirage Forced Graphic Setting Being Patched

Chromatic Aberration is being patched as optional later this month

Chromatic Aberration is either a hit or a miss, however, from what I’ve come to learn from the Gaming community, it’s one of the first settings we turn off when starting a new game. However, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, chromatic aberration is forced on and cannot be turned off.

There was more than just an outcry for this. Fortunately, later in October, the game is getting a patch where that will adjust that feature, giving us the option to turn it on and off as we please.

According to Ubisoft they listened to feedback from the community and will make adjustments. To be frank, I’m not sure what made them decide to release that feature as always on.

More on Mirage

There’s been quite the response to Mirage’s release. It’s drastically different from the last few releases, it remains an open world though, and honestly, it’s been doing rather well. Mirage’s scale is much smaller but its player base has been reacting well to that. That is beside the forced chromatic aberration, that part has not been going well.

“Chromatic also called chromatic distortion and spherochromatism, is a failure of a lens to focus all colours to the same point. It is caused by dispersion: the refractive index of the lens elements varies with the wavelength of light. The refractive index of most transparent materials decreases with increasing wavelength.

Since the focal length of a lens depends on the refractive index, this variation in refractive index affects focusing. Chromatic aberration manifests itself as “fringes” of colour along boundaries that separate dark and bright parts of the image.”

According to the community team member:

Official Discord Update.

‘Waldo’ on their official Assassin’s Creed Discord, they said Ubisoft is “working to address your feedback with Chromatic Aberration in-game.”

“With our upcoming update coming around the end of the month, Chromatic Aberration will be deactivated by default on all platforms and you will have the option to activate/deactivate this feature in a dedicated menu.”

For some, this will be amazing news. Whether you prefer this feature or not. It’s not going away. It merely gets an optional choice to turn it back on if you so choose.
