Quality over quantity is a firm belief of Spidey’s director

Even though the latest installment of Marvel’s Spider-Man has been a big hit, it didn’t go off without some complaints. One of the complaints has been mentioned more than a few times though, the game’s length. The director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has released a statement in response to this negative feedback regarding the game’s length.

According to statistics Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s main story can be completed in roughly 15 to 20 hours. For those looking at 100% completion, it will require 25 to 30 hours to do just that.

2023 has seen game releases that have much lengthier play time than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This brings the question of whether it’s really worth it to drop the cash for this game since its price tag is right up there with other games. It’s no secret that game prices have gotten a lot more expensive over the years, so as a gamer getting the best bang for your buck is always worth looking into. From the director’s perspective, they do not believe that Insomniac is offering a product that’s not worth the price tag.

Insomniac Games director Bryan Intihar spoke to BBC saying that the studio was more focused on delivering a higher quality experience with the latest Spidey’s game. That was their main goal with the project.

Spidey himself is electric int he new installment.

Intihar did acknowledge that he takes it seriously when gamers are considering what to spend their money on. With that in mind, they focused on making a game that players will deem and see as more than “worth” it when they complete it.

“For us, it really comes down to the experience we want to deliver with the quality we want to hit,” Intihar said in response to a question about Spider-Man 2’s length.

“Obviously, there’s a certain level of, ‘hey, someone’s going to spend this much money on a game’, so we want to give them the experience that’s worth it. Our job is to make sure that you feel no matter how long it is, it’s worth that money, it’s worth that investment.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should easily rise above that of its predecessor becoming an even greater hit

Sales are a vital factor where games are concerned these days. They shouldn’t just hit the target, but they should also exceed it. We’ve seen several past launches where things didn’t go according to plan and entire franchises got scrapped. It’s hard to say whether Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s game length will impact sales numbers. It will most likely come down to player choices. Whether they want to spend their money on the game, or rather something that will keep them busy for longer.

It is worth noting that the original Marvel Spider-Man had around about the same game length as the sequel. It ended up being PlayStation’s highest-selling exclusive in its history. So with that in mind, there’s definitely a chance for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to hit those same numbers again.

We will absolutely do another follow-up if the latest Spidey installment does in fact reach or surpass those numbers. Sony will be sure to let the public know on bow their latest exclusive is doing.
