The upgrade will be available to PC players as well
Bethesda officially issued an update on the in-progress new-gen update for Fallout 4 earlier today, December 13. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Fallout 4 were initially scheduled to release this year, but will now be released next year.
Bethesda has been silent on the new-gen Fallout 4 overhaul for a long time. Given that, and the fact that we’re now just weeks away from the end of 2023, it’s hardly surprising that the update was pushed to 2024 after being announced well over a year ago in October 2022.
Bethesda highlighted “performance mode features for high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes, and even bonus Creation Club content” as key features for the new-gen versions of the RPG when it was announced.
The upgrade is also available for PC players, who will primarily benefit from the Creation Club bonuses. When it does arrive, the new-gen Fallout 4 upgrade will be free for anyone who owns any version of the base game on PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
Indeed, the original announcement has faded from memory, and the aforementioned Creation Club has been replaced in Skyrim. Bethesda introduced the alternate storefront in Skyrim earlier this month, effectively paving the way for a new round of paid mods. Players were outraged, and some modders even vowed never to charge for mods again, no matter how many downloads they received.
