The company is getting ready to dive into The Witcher 4
Excitement is brewing as CD Projekt Red ramps up development on the highly anticipated sequel to The Witcher series, codenamed Polaris. With a staggering 403 employees dedicated to the project, representing over two-thirds of CDPR’s workforce, the studio is poised to enter full production later this year.
Joint CEO Adam Badowski’s vision of assembling a robust team of “around 400” individuals for The Witcher 4 has become a reality, setting the stage for a monumental leap forward in the game’s development. According to joint CEO Michal Nowakowski, this influx of talent will fuel the next phase of production, marking a pivotal milestone in Polaris’s journey to fruition.
In its early stages, Polaris saw a modest team of just 17 individuals, as resources were reallocated following the release of Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion. Despite this, CD Projekt Red remained committed to its ambitious vision for The Witcher 4, gradually bolstering its ranks in preparation for the epic adventure that lies ahead.
Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to receive support from a dedicated team of 17 developers, ensuring a seamless experience for players. Additional projects within CDPR’s portfolio, such as Orion, Sirius, and Hadar, benefit from the expertise of 47, 37, and 20 individuals, respectively, further showcasing the studio’s multifaceted approach to game development.
Polaris marks the beginning of a new chapter in The Witcher saga, promising a captivating narrative and immersive gameplay experience. As CD Projekt Red undergoes organizational enhancements, including improved communication channels and adaptable team structures, it remains committed to delivering a game that exceeds expectations and delights fans worldwide.
