ChaosGaming (S.A.) is a team of gamers/content creators who are passionate about gaming and it shows.
ChaosGaming is a group of four passionate gamers jamming CoD and entertaining fellow gamers in the community via their FaceBook page which creates an atmosphere of memes and other pop culture fun.
We caught up with their frontman recently to find out more about ChaosGamingSA and their team, here is how the interview went down.
We firstly wanted to know a little about the backstory of how their crew was formed and what they are all about so we asked for a short backstory:
“@chaosgaming is a passionate gamer from South Africa, 27 years young this year. I have been gaming since the age of 4/5 years. I have always been majorly involved in the gaming world.
During Lockdown I decided it was time to take it to the next level. Start the Facebook page and YouTube Channel, more specifically May 2020.
Which then I brought along @Beyond, who is a CoD Caster, in the competitive CoD Scene, Beyond also makes certain content for the YouTube channel such as the lets plays and has been with Mettlestate and met up with a lot of big names in the scene @Gatekeeper my blood brother, a passionate sniper rifle user who posts on TikTok also big into his FPS games.
Him and I used to 1v1 on Modern Warfare 2007 every weekend probably where the CoD addiction started for us and @Mikayla who runs a lot of the posts on FB and other socials, she is damn amazing to be around and have involved in the team! Mikayla is a real bad ass when it comes to sniping on Call of Duty and she is our meme powerhouse.
All 4 of us are major COD fans and enjoy pop culture and gaming to the max. A quick but awesome background on where “Chaos Gaming (SA)” came from.
I was always a major fan of Arena FPS games and their chaotic nature, plus strategy games like Dawn of War, Age of Mythology, Command, And Conquer, I always loved the “evil” / “bad” characters/teams. Dawn Of Wars “Chaos” Marines team that I loved playing pretty much stuck to me and then yeah that’s pretty much the reason behind the name.”
So what is ChaosGaming’s role in the South African Gaming community?:
“My role is to bring the SA community (and anyone keen on being a part of the family) closer together. Our Facebook approach was more about gaming memes, pop culture, etc that everyone could relate to and laugh together. It feels there was that gap in SA that we hit the sweet spot on.
We also stream very “sweaty” call of duty gameplay on Gameplay Live on YouTube which is nice to see from a veteran COD player (15 years in the game). Where I try to give tips and show some friends and viewers my playstyle.
And also getting back that nostalgia gaming-wise a lot of us South Africans miss. We used to go to the Main-Gaming cod tournaments back in MW3 days… good times. But plan on one day being able to revive those types of events.”
What is your favourite Game or genre of game?:
“First-person shooters. Tricky one… I truly have the softest spot for Unreal Tournament/1999,2004, UT3… But I have definitely put the most time into Call of Duty and enjoy it very much especially due to its competitive nature.
I used to as mentioned earlier, also play crazy amounts of strategy games like Strong Hold Crusader, Dawn of War, C&Conquer, Age of Mythology, Company of heroes… I know the question is “what’s my favourite” but these are all just too good to leave out. I do also really enjoy Dota 2 as an alternative.”
What is their favourite gaming platform?:
“I started gaming as a kid on PC. But now prefer PlayStation. Still have a PC though for Dota 2, other steam games, and classics like the original Unreal games and Quakes.”
ChaosGaming’s favourite thing about gaming?:
“. Gaming, oh gaming, it takes me away from reality. Terrible day at work? No problem gaming takes the stress away and start the next day fresh. (Unless I game too late then feel worse) lol. But yes gaming is that stress reliever, a place to express yourself in different ways, competitively or friendly, your games don’t judge you.
A place to escape or hop on and bond with your friends online. It’s my happy place aside from my family. As you can see with the valentines pictures I took many moons ago, I share positive energy through my humour and personality in my everyday life that I carry over onto my content and streams too.
What drives your gaming passion?
“The joy, competitiveness, showing how good I can be (make my name known to the community) and to relive the feelings of pure gaming euphoria as a kid. Also nothing better than being called a hacker when you aren’t or getting flamed at because you are doing well.”
What can we expect from ChaosGaming in the future? Do you have any projects on the horizon?:
“Myself and my team honestly have tons in mind, including setting up a new streaming room, selling merch, hosting COD tournaments, and a couple other “top secret” ideas.”
He ends off the interview with “I truly hope you have all enjoyed my background on who I am, and the team involved in making this work. To stay up to date don’t forget to follow our socials and come say hi!”
There you go ladies and gentlemen that’s the lowdown on ChaosGaming from an inside perspective.
