“keeping mostly everything secret”

Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone continues to tease Stardew Valley’s next major 1.6 update, this time revealing an expanded storage option for the smash hit indie’s pixel farmers, hoarders, and foragers.

Barone revealed the new “Big Chest” item on social media, which “can store nearly twice as much as a regular chest,” according to the item description. Barone jokes in the responses that players will now only need one million chests to store their farmed goods, rather than the usual two million. However, the newest item should make our farms more spacious, especially in the late game.

Barone also reveals that the 1.6 update is progressing steadily, despite the fact that the creator is in “extreme crunch mode” to get the update out the door. “I made a ton of progress on 1.6 last month,” he writes on Twitter, “it’s (self-imposed) extreme crunch mode, nose to the grindstone (raw nose) mode.” He then refers to the Big Chest as one of “many additions in 1.6,” before joking that he’s “keeping mostly everything secret.” Exciting.

Barone says he’s taking a break from working on his other top-down management romp, the ghostly but still wholesome Haunted Chocolatier, while he works on Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update. So, after the next Stardew update, we should learn more about the highly anticipated game.
