Twitch wouldn’t be the same without Cranky Maiden streaming her witty and engaging streams, she seems to have a way with her audience that draws more and more people to her streams on a daily basis from all over the world.
Not only is she a graphic artist and comedian but there are so many aspects to this variety streamer that you will return to her streams just to see what shenanigans she is up to today.

We were so intrigued by Cranky Maiden and her place in the Streaming community that we felt it necessary to catch up with her for an interview to showcase this streamer and find out more about her.
The first question we ask is always just to get to know the person we are interviewing so we asked…
Who is Cranky Maiden and what is your backstory?
“My name is Mariza aka CrankyMaiden, a 32-year-old mom and wife from Gauteng, South Africa. Self-proclaimed amateur graphic artist and comedian. I am a full-time variety streamer and content creator on Twitch. I have been a gamer since I can remember but I only started playing online games in 2020 when the lockdown hit. I started by just playing GTA Online with friends but it wasn’t until I started my e-sports career in July of 2021 that I considered streaming.
I didn’t really know anything about Twitch or streaming but I decided to check it out anyway. I immediately knew that this would be a great way to fulfill my social needs and meet new people. I started off small, only streaming friendly and competitive matches for my team maybe once or twice a month. I didn’t have the right equipment or hardware and even though I wasn’t very consistent, I was gaining popularity by the day.
October 2021 I started taking the streaming a bit more seriously and started streaming everyday in the evenings, gradually upgrading my setup and overall brand. By January 2022 I lost my job due to the Covid19 pandemic and I decided to end my e-sports career to focus on streaming (I was Co-owner of Psychosis E-sport alongside Lynch_Psycho). I have been a full-time streamer for the last 6 months, I’ve been streaming for just over a year in total and I very much enjoy what I do.
So what can people expect on my channel you may ask? Chaos, questionable humor, and lots of fun! My channel is 18+ but it is a safe, judge-free environment for everyone to enjoy. We can go from serious conversations to gut-wrenching laughter within seconds. I am all about being myself, being real, and providing raw and uncut entertainment that people either love or hate and I am perfectly fine with not being everyone’s cup of tea.
I interact with everyone who tunes in and will do my best to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. I’ve grown a lot and achieved so many goals, all thanks to my amazing community and all the love and support I have received.”
What is your role in the gaming community?
“I have my own community “The Clique” which I run alongside my amazing management team and right-hand man TheHansManZA. My community means a lot to me, I know what it feels like to be told you’re not good enough and not being given a chance to show your true potential so we provide a safe space for streamers to meet like-minded people, reach their goals and gain more exposure.
We are an 18+ streamer support group with a zero-tolerance policy for any harassment, bullying, sexism, racism, hate speech, body shaming, and overall discrimination. I consider myself a “mommy” figure to my community member and those who reach out and join my community, helping, guiding, and supporting them throughout their own journeys.”
What is your favourite genre of game?
“Dare I say Horror… I scare easily and my viewers love taking advantage of that. I mainly play Dead by Daylight and I regularly get “bullied” into playing other horror games by my community, I recently started playing “Visage” and I absolutely LOVE it. I also enjoy story based / interactive games.
I used to be a competitive Call of Duty player, so I do still play it from time to time but just for the fun of it. I am not limited to the games mentioned above, I’m pretty much open to playing anything hence the term “variety” streamer.”
What is your preferred gaming platform?
“I’ve always been a console / Xbox gamer but hoping to eventually move over to PC.”
What is your favourite thing about gaming?
“Streaming, socializing, and meeting new people. I made many new friends from gaming and they were always telling me to stream because I have the personality for it. I have a lot of fun while streaming/gaming and the response to my content has been astounding.
I’ve always been a people person and by becoming a streamer/content creator I just realized again how much I love entertaining and making people laugh. “
What are your current projects and what do you have planned for the future?
“Currently, I am just trying to establish my brand and build a name for myself and my community which is a constant work in progress, growing together and trying to assist and uplift other small streamers. I recently became a sponsored streamer for Real Tech Online which is a PC hardware and console accessories online store.
I’ve had the great privilege to work with amazing brands such as Lenovo and RODE Microphones as part of the Legion Create competition that I was a finalist in, as well as being nominated by the community as Bumfluffski’s featured steamer. In future, I would like to work with more well-known brands and expand my own.
I’d also like to dabble a bit more into the design/creative aspect of things, maybe do an online graphic design course and start doing commissions for other content creators. I would also like to eventually make a decent living from doing what I love which is streaming/content creation, graphic design, gaming, and entertaining my audience.
With the amount of local content creators currently in the scene, it is easy to be overlooked so I would just like to thank MGR for this amazing opportunity to really showcase my personality and what my channel has to offer.”
