After the cinematic release left fans a bit sore, social media lit up with #releasethesnydercut; a movement which made it clear that there is hope for the revival of the DCU, even if a few of us are feeling that it will hardly come close to the success trumped by Marvel. Fans went as far as purchasing billboards in time square, New York, and hiring planes with banners flying the hash tag. Even the Warner Bro’s social media accounts were hit with a wave of upset people. It’s good to see that the big-wigs do hear the cries of their public

When a family tragedy had forced Snyder to pull out of the JL project, Avengers director Joss Whedon had taken over. Where Whedon has had great success in the MCU department, the finished cut of Justice League made it clear just how different Whedon and Snyder are in their creative vision. Snyder’s version was supposed to be a darker, grittier take on the story, as is noticed in most DC themes and so it was no surprise when the movie stirred up some distaste on its more colourful palette and not-so-great humour.

Before handing over the reins, Snyder had put together a 4-hour cut of the film – the cut which was not confirmed to exist, and the cut fans are crying for and the cut that fans will be receiving. There is the question of re-shooting during this quarantine period, but to our pleasant surprise, it turns out that no re-shooting will be needed.

The lobbying, after all, worked out great for the re-release of 1980’s Superman 2 in 2005 (the Donner cut), and if Zack Snyder is truly the creative wizard we all believe him to be, the there is no reason to doubt the “Snyder cut”
