Disney + initially launched in November 2019 and following a series of rollouts in international territories including the UK, India, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland, it now has over 50 million subscribers.
Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer Kevin Mayer was quoted as saying: “We’re truly humbled that Disney+ is resonating with millions around the globe, and believe this bodes well for our continued expansion throughout Western Europe and into Japan and all of Latin America later this year.”
Regarding the content he said: “Great storytelling inspires and uplifts, and we are in the fortunate position of being able to deliver a vast array of great entertainment rooted in joy and optimism on Disney+.”
Streamers can expect the theatrical content to be released earlier as a result of the global crisis which is a way to say thank you to their subscribers.
