One of the most significant PS Plus games of the year is now accessible
Some PlayStation Plus users can now play one of the most popular games of 2022 for free.
Here, “some” means all PlayStation Plus members who are enrolled in the PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium tiers. This free download was not available to those who were on the PS Plus Essential tier, which is, as its name implies, the standard tier with the greatest number of subscribers. It’s unclear how long PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium subscribers will be able to play the game for free, but as of right now, they can play it as much as they want on their PS4 and PS5.
The game in question, which was created by Tuxedo Labs, was not only one of the biggest surprises of 2022 but also one of its biggest hits. The game has the highest possible rating of “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam User Reviews, with scores as high as 86 on Metacritic.
This is because a whopping 74,237 user reviews, 96% of which are positive. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the mystery game is called Teardown, and it made its official debut on April 21, 2022. That being said, it was only released for consoles this week, and on the first day of its availability, PS Plus offered a free download.
“Plan the perfect heist using creative problem solving, brute force, and everything around you,” reads an official description of the game. “Teardown features a fully destructible and truly interactive environment where player freedom and emergent gameplay are the driving mechanics. Tear down walls with explosives or vehicles to create shortcuts no one thought was possible.
Stack objects, build structures, or use floating objects to your advantage. Take your time to create an efficient path through the level, plan the heist, and get ready to execute it. Run, jump, drive, slingshot. Do whatever you need to collect targets, avoid robots, or steal whatever your clients ask for. But make sure not to get caught!”
This is undoubtedly one of the biggest games that PlayStation Plus has added this year, but sadly, not all subscribers can access it for free, and it’s unclear when or if this will change.
