How do you land a dream job without even applying? Write up a mod so good that Bethesda approaches you.
Stephanie Zachariadis (also known as Siren) is an award-winning screenwriter and editor from both the film and gaming industry. She is the co-producer of Newmakers, quest writer for Fallout: Miami and Head Writer for the much-anticipated Fallout: London, the latter being what got her hired by Bethesda last Friday. You can view Stephanie’s full profile on LinkedIn if you’re curious about her other accomplishments and experiences.
Fallout: London is an extremely ambitious project taken on by the Fallout London Team where they’ve completely revamped Fallout 4. This mod pretty much wipes out the all-American take on the nuclear aftermath and allows the player to delve into a post-nuclear apocalyptic Britain, with over 16 cities included for the expansive world exploration, all set in the year of 2237.
The mod really pulls you into this new Fallout experience by not only creating the environment to be set in London, but drawing from actual British culture, including factions such as Gentry, Vagabonds, Camelot, and a couple more.
However, concepts like the American company, Vault-Tec, apparently won’t be included; neither will there be Super Mutants or Deathclaws, and who knows what else, seeing as though they’re not planning on keeping much of the FEV concept. So I wonder what the take on this post-apocalyptic experience is going to be like for the actual gameplay?
Originally started up in the late stages of 2017, it was just a few associates with the goal of creating a small quest mod for Fallout 4. Fast-forward to 2020 and it was announced that finished world at the time was a comparable size to Far Harbour, a Fallout 4 expansion released in 2016; in short, Fallout: London is described as a DLC-sized mod.
As of Friday, 20 August 2021, the Fallout London Team has had to add another task to their already busy schedules, to look for a new Head Writer, after the news of Zachariadis’ resignation came about in her official announcement on the Fallout London Discord server.
All of the many, many hours of hard work that Zachariadis put into helping create this massive mod really paid off when Bethesda offered her a position in their company as Associate Quest Designer.
Stephanie’s departure will not be slowing the development progress though and the team has wished her well on this new journey and is already on the lookout for a new Head Writer.
“This is utterly fantastic news and something that all of the team here at Fallout: London stand behind and we wholeheartedly wish her the best on her endeavors, we hope that she will give them the same ground-breaking story and quests that she gave us.” Wrote Project Lead, Dean Carter (aka, Prilladog) on the mods official Discord.
Everything up to this point of development is said to be “set in concrete” and it’s just the dialogue that needs to be completed.
If you would like to check out a few bits and pieces of what’s expected from this awesome mod, you can find a few things like a 2D and 3D showcase, some of the sounds of Fallout: London, and more.
Official Reveal Trailer:
According to the official Fallout: London site, there is no set release date as yet. So far it is also only available for pc as it stands at this point.
They’re also accepting applications via the site if you would like to be a part of the team, I mean, it’s worth a shot right?
