One “The Day Before” Discord moderator asserts that Fntastic has not gotten in touch with the moderators and volunteers since the server’s debut
The developer Fntastic, who was represented by a prominent moderator during the game’s promotional phase, claims that they haven’t heard from the team since the game’s launch, leaving The Day Before Discord in ruins. Regarding the game’s release and reception, the same moderator has released a statement in which they express their feeling that they were “thrown under the bus.”
Since the launch of The Day Before’s Discord server last week, user “Levitate” has been on the front lines. In addition to having an official Fntastic tag and being identified as a moderator on the zombie game’s server, they have recently updated their profile to include the phrase “not a dev” in response to inquiries from players regarding the game’s current status.
They apologize for the current state of the game, notably the fact that it seems to be more of an extraction shooter and less of an MMO, and claim that they haven’t heard from developer Fntastic. They have been sending out statements to players based on what they were told prior to launch. After the Discord server blew up on launch day, raising doubts about The Day Before’s MMO status, the developer tried to take down any references to the game from its web pages.
The main statement on Discord said:
“I shared information about the game’s genre based on my understanding from the team, like anyone else involved,” Levitate’s main statement on Discord reads. “Myself, our mods, our volunteers, we all expected an MMO survival game. We communicated based on what we received. It appeared [sic] aspects of the game have evolved differently, leading to it being more of an extraction game. I apologize for any confusion this has caused. I am equally as frustrated as anyone else. My role has been centered on our community and the volunteers, not game development. I relayed information in good faith and regret any unintended misinformation. There was a miscommunication, leading to unexpected expectations. I understand and respect your feelings on this matter. Please know it was never my intention to mislead. I’ll continue to help the mods here, and then decide what I’ll do, as I am not fond of the blame being shifted to the people who acted in good faith for this community for the past two years.”

Fntastic remains tight-lipped in the aftermath of The Day Before’s recent debut, with ongoing chaos. While patch notes have surfaced on Steam, there is still no update to meet player expectations at the time of this writing. The Day Before’s Steam user base has witnessed a substantial decline, plummeting by a minimum of 75% since the game’s launch just a few days ago.
Levitate has been questioned multiple times on Discord about any communication from the developers, responding with statements like “It’s a ghost town” or “It’s been pure silence.” When another user praised the moderators for attempting to clarify the situation, Levitate replied with, “Well, there’s nothing more that we can do. Especially since they tried to throw us under the bus for their s**t.”
In the Discord conversation, Levitate expressed uncertainty about whether Fntastic will address the ongoing issues, stating, “I’ve never had direct contact with the devs. F**k knows where they are.” Levitate explained that a third party communicated with them and other moderators and volunteers, and they then relayed this information to the players.
