Free to play games will no longer require Xbox Live Gold to play, which means we will now have many games that will truly be Free To Play.
If you have been following the story you will know that Xbox Live Gold was set to increase their subscription prices by a massive amount last week.
Well luckily that decision was reversed and a formal apology was issued by Phil Spencer himself citing “Apologies for all the angst and emotion this caused today for our customers. As always, we appreciate the feedback. This is a good learning opportunity for us and we will learn from it.”
Xbox then posted a blog post They also added that you won’t need a subscription to play “free to play” games on Xbox stating “You will no longer need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play those games on Xbox. We are working hard to deliver this change as soon as possible in the coming months.”
