Activision has shared more details on the upcoming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Besides the release date of the 28th of October Activision has given us more details on the upcoming installment and the franchise as a whole going forward with Activision’s marketing department calling this “a new era” of Call Of Duty.

According to the official site:

” Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II drops players into an unprecedented global conflict that features the return of the iconic operators of Task Force 141.”

New gun handling, advanced AI, a new global campaign, immersive multiplayer action, and narrative-driven Special Ops are just a few of the new features that will be available in Modern Warfare 2.

The game will be launched with “a globe-trotting single-player campaign, immersive Multiplayer combat, and a narrative-driven, co-op Special Ops experience”, according to Activision.

Despite the fact that the game will be “entering a new era,” Modern Warfare 2 will still be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Infinity Ward’s co-studio head and creative director, Patrick Kelly said of the quality of the game on the older consoles that he is “proud of how the game looks on older platforms.”

Shadow Company, a faction that was previously presented in Modern Warfare 2’s post-launch narrative within Warzone, will also be reintroduced in the campaign. Another new character, Phillip Graves, runs Shadow Company, a private military contractor identified as a crucial ally to Task Force 141.

The first campaign, nicknamed “Nightwar,” takes you on a night vision adventure that features massive aerial battles and strikes. It also creates a sense of tension. As part of Laswell’s marines, you’re sent in to find Hasan, the High-Value Target, and extract him from the Al-Watala group from the previous game.

This new installment will also include a lot more water, yes you heard right water. For instance, the objective of the mission Wet Work is almost entirely set in water, as you must swim around and take out adversaries on the docks as they approach.

The water element was completely redone for this new installment and is designed to assist you in your stealth and escape. Underwater, you will be able to fire guns and knives, but the bullets will have a slower projectile speed, meaning it will take more shots to kill someone. To navigate all of the new waterways featured in the latest installment, there are also new and redesigned vehicles.

To add to the difficulty your character will be limited to a knife as a weapon for a while, you will still be able to mount weapons in Modern Warfare 2 and a new feature has you crouching to dive with a double-tap.

Another new mission is Convoy which is a high-speed vehicle mission in Modern Warfare 2 that adds new movement to Call of Duty’s famous vehicle chase sequences. Convoy is a “vehicle sandbox” that gives players options and new ways to interact with the task, according to the developer.

Players can go to any vehicle in the convoy scenario, hopping into the driver’s seat or climbing onto a rooftop with vehicle platforming that looks like it could belong in an Uncharted game.

Kelly also mentioned that the studio would be focusing the direction of the sequel more on entertainment and fun unlike some of the previous campaigns which were much more serious in nature.
