The White Wolf shall be returning…

Since the Phantom Liberty DLC was released to rave reviews, The Witcher 4 or ‘Codename Polaris’ has been CDPR’s main focus.

The studio is giving this title its full attention, with more than half of its staff working on it. Despite the attention, the RPG is still a few years away, but we have some brand-new details.

Geralt will return in the next mainline entry, according to CDPR.

Why it is significant: Since its release, The Witcher 3 has been CDPR’s best-seller, and Geralt is a big part of that. With the return of The White Wolf, fans will get a fresh look at his story.

Director Sebastian Kalemb revealed information about Geralt’s involvement in the next game to Lega Nerd.

Geralt of Rivia’s saga continues with Project Polaris for fans of the much-loved protagonist. His status as the main character, however, has not yet been revealed. According to the director:

Ciri will reportedly come back to The Witcher series too

“It’ll be an excellent entry point for many players, without forgetting the long-time fans who still wish to follow Geralt’s adventures.”

There were rumors that Ciri would be the protagonist of the next Witcher game, which could still be true in theory. Geralt’s story was pretty much concluded with the third entry, so his role in the fourth mainline game could be much smaller. Ciri is still a Witcher in training and could play an important role in the next game.

Furthermore, now that Vesemir is gone, we’d like to see Geralt take on the role of mentor and father figure. CDPR brilliantly concluded his story, and they should not jeopardize it by doing anything that might annoy the fans. Fans will be relieved to learn that an iconic character will not be absent from the upcoming RPG.

Furthermore, CDPR confirmed that The Witcher 4 is being developed in a way that will appeal to both returning and new players. This will be useful to the team because there are more people interested in the studio’s work after Cyberpunk 2077 than ever before.
