Hyper Light Breaker is the new 3D co-op from the Hyper Light universe and the successor to the highly popular Hyper Light Drifter.
The developer of the popular Hyperlight Drifter, Heart Machine have announced their new project Hyper Light Breaker.
The new installment in the Hyper Light universe won’t be a “sequel nor a prequel. It is set in the universe of Hyper Light and is its own story. It will share threads, aesthetics, lore, and other recognizable elements, but will be a new game driven by new designs.” according to Heart Machine.
The game will be available in early access via steam sometime next year and the Steam overview states of the game:
“ Enter the Overgrowth, a new land in the world of Hyper Light. Play alone or with friends to explore massive biomes, defeat brutal monsters, create new builds, survive the mysterious Crowns, and overthrow the almighty Abyss King in this action rogue-lite adventure from the creators of Hyper Light Drifter.”
The features Steam has listed for Hyper Light Breaker are as follows:

The game has published an announcement trailer that displays some pre-alpha gameplay in an ethereal landscape. The trailer teases some beautifully performed combat with a light saber-like weapon and closes with the main character going off into the dystopian-looking environment.

Hyper Light Breaker will be published by Gearbox Publishing in collaboration with Heart Machine. The game will only be released on PC for now, with no mention of other platforms in the press release.
Since Hyper Light Drifter was such a hit, it’s safe to assume that Hyper Light Breaker will be just as successful, if not even more so. It will definitely be something to keep an eye on.
