A release date for the upcoming Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster has finally been revealed

Nightdive Studios announced earlier this year their upcoming game, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster. Now we finally have been given a release date for the game. Almost 29 years later to the date of the original release.

The game will launch on the 28th of February 2024, as Gamespot reported. The Remaster will be available on the following platforms; PC, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, and it will also support resolutions up to 4K and frame rates up to 120 FPS depending on the user’s hardware. Now let’s be honest these are very impressive improvements already given the original’s age, which was released back then on the 10th March 1995.

That was an entirely different era compared to what we have today. Dark Forces launched back then when the best FPS games were all called “Doom clones”. Essentially Dark Forces played similar to Doom back then. You had your Star Wars-themed game that played in 3D environments with a massive arsenal to utilize from the Star Wars universe shooting enemies.

Even though Dark Forces benefited in the Post Doom genre, it had its own very unique and note-worthy features. Features such as in-depth story segments, and animated scenes with decent voice acting. Something not found in games back then.

Dark Forces had an extensive fan base back then and over the years it didn’t diminish. Kyle Katarn, the protagonist of the original has been mentioned and sought after for years. This is a very welcome comeback.
