It’s been one of the most anticipated city-building games to date
Manor Lords isn’t a new name you’re hearing… It has been long awaited by players, it’s one of Steam’s most wish-listed city builder games to date. And not just on Steam, overall you have done so much just to get us there and I appreciate it so much
everyone on every platform has been eagerly awaiting its release, nearly surpassing games such as Hollow Knight Silksong. Manor Lords will be coming to PC in an Early Access version on the 26th of April 2024. The console release date has yet to be revealed.
Hooded Horse, the publisher behind Manor Lords finally dropped the long-awaited news during Xbox’s Partner showcase. On PC, the game will launch and be available on Steam, GOG, and PC Game Pass on day one. The trailer for Manor Lords did mention that a console release will be coming soon, however, an exact launch date isn’t available yet.
Understandable, since the PC release itself is still a while off, so a console debut will more than likely be made available before the game hits PC itself. Whether it’s going to be an Xbox exclusive remains to be seen though. During the showcase, a press release specified, “
consoles and Xbox Game Pass,” which we can take as an indication of multiple consoles and not just Xbox, however, time will tell here.
Manor Lords takes place in a medieval setting. It’s a strategy game where you build cities and then defend them in large-scale battles. A historical game for sure that’s heavily focused on social challenges, resource management, and then political disputes.
All of this throughout all out warfare. Management is taken to an entirely new depth with Manor Lords. Not only do you need to build homes, pave roads, and keep everyone happy.
You need to be on the guard for those under your rule turning traitors, a Baron going rogue means there’s a new enemy with their own army standing against you now. You will have to manage your food production such as crops, you will need an army of your own to defend your lands.
You won’t merely be building houses for your people to live in, you need to assign your residents to homes of your choice also, taking people management to a new length. Prepare for natural disasters, making sure you’re prepared and you prevent plagues.
Last but not least, in the actual battles, you will be in charge of those and it will be vital to carefully plan and execute them. Suffering serious losses means a big impact on your workforce once the battle is done.
The game is rather complex when you look at it offering a lot of elements and mechanics to look at and work with. Fans of the genre will see this as an impressive addition to the genre. Making this even more impressive is the fact that all of this started with the passion of a single developer.
