It’s Official Jack Black will be playing everyone’s favourite robot Claptrap in the Upcoming Borderlands movie.
The Borderlands movie is really shaping up to be something to look forward to with more and more stars being added to the lineup. Another starring role that has now been filled is the iconic role of Claptrap. Our favourite fast-talking robot will be played by none other than Jack Black himself.
Director Eli Roth has worked with Jack Black and Cate Blanchett before on “The House with a clock in its walls” and is quoted as saying .
“I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is te funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen”.
The screenplay of the Borderlands movie is being written by Craig Mazin of HBO’s Chernobyl and The Last of Us.
As we have mentioned before this movie will have a star-studded cast and the lead roles will be filled by some incredible actors including Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, and now Jack Black.
Jack Black and Kevin Hart have acted alongside each other before, providing many belly laughs in the Classic “Jumanji: The Next Level” and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”.
In my opinion, there is no one else who could play Claptrap like Jack Black. If you have played the Borderlands games you will undoubtedly agree. Black has the perfect combination of fun, wit and snark to bring Claptrap to life on the big screen.
Claptrap is one of the most well-known and well-loved characters of the Borderlands franchise and has even starred in his own DLC called Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution. He was also a playable character in Borderlands: The pre-sequel.
There is still no news of when this highly-anticipated movie adaptation will hit our screens, or even how closely they will stick to the source material. Apparently, though we can expect to see a lot of Claptrap throughout the movie as he will have a prominent role.
The cast is coming along nicely and we are now just waiting with bated breath to see who will play the last two roles, Mordecai and Brick. It will be interesting to see who makes the cut and of course the final product of this exciting project.
