After many PS5 players reported crashes in Baldur’s Gate 3, the developer is actively investigating and has offered a workaround.
Players of the popular new Baldur’s Gate 3 on the PS5 have recently started complaining about the game frequently crashing when they try to load it.
The issue appears to be related to a PSN issue, which is now being looked into, according to the game’s creator Larian Studios. Fortunately, the developer also included a workaround so that players may enjoy the game without concern for crashes.
Larian Studios took to Twitter/X to explain that it is looking into the issue and they have a temporary solution:
If you’re encountering difficulties playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5, specifically with game loading issues. The solution from Larian is to disconnect your console from the internet.
This action lets you play offline, ensuring the game loads correctly. Unfortunately, players engaging in online co-op with friends will need to patiently await a fix, as it appears that the issue is connected to the PSN.
While many appreciated the workaround, others remain frustrated by the crashes, which mar an otherwise promising beginning for the new game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was initially released for Windows on the 3rd of August, followed by a PS5 launch on the 6th of September and an Xbox Series X/S release on the 21st of September.
Baldur’s Gate 3, rooted in the Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role-playing system, garnered widespread acclaim from critics for its gameplay, narrative depth, extensive content, and player decision-making capabilities.
Since its launch, Larian has issued numerous patches and hotfixes for the game. One of these updates appears to have resolved Minthara’s romance. This will introduce romantic dialogue options initially inaccessible due to a bug.
This shows their willingness to improve and fix any bugs players encounter. Which shows that they are taking the game and the player’s concerns seriously.
Larian is gearing up to release the third significant patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 on the 21st of September. This update will introduce comprehensive Mac support for the game, along with a range of anticipated updates and bug fixes.
Furthermore, the developer is working on crossplay support. Which will allow PS5 and PC players to team up for cooperative campaigns as part of their post-release plans. However, Larian has not disclosed a specific release window for this particular feature.
