The writing director Adam Smith says that they’re “not done yet.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been very popular and Larian has now said that they are “not done yet” and more updates are coming soon including one with brand new races.
Featured on the Xbox On Twitch channel, Adam Smith, the writing director of Baldur’s Gate 3, delves into the prospective evolution of the Larian RPG, addressing the anticipation for future updates. Smith discloses, “Currently, we’ve not stopped updating the game,” emphasizing, “we’re going to carry on updating it.” While details are limited, he affirms, “All I can tell you is that we do plan to do more updates, we’re not done yet.”
The subject of what Larian could still incorporate into the game from D&D then came up. The RPG aficionados have long wish lists and hope to see new races added to the game in the near future. “We don’t have specific plans for new races at the moment, but we’re not saying no,” Smith stated in reference to the subject. Subsequently, the developer disclosed that Larian had purposefully omitted certain features, which may eventually be added back in.
Smith said: “There’s loads of stuff that we intentionally didn’t put in because it didn’t fit. There’s many, many things where we were like ‘Okay, that would be cool but does it fit the campaign, the story we’re telling?’ but there’s some stuff where we’re like ‘This would be nice to think about later’ – there’s a lot in Baldur’s Gate 3 already but we didn’t want to leave it be.”
Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 still have a lot to look forward to. Just what it is, we don’t quite know yet. Larian has “nothing to announce” yet, but they are reportedly “very much thinking about our next things,” which is good news.
Smith concluded by saying that patches, such as the most recent Patch 5 update, will “always be free.” Indeed, according to the author, Larian intends to keep providing free patches and updates for Baldur’s Gate 3 in the future.
