RPG turns to the wizarding world of Harry Potter in the up and coming online game Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy.
The hype had settled into a quiet hum since the last announcement and not much more had come to light until a Reddit user, who claims to be working with Warner Bros. on their promotional side, posted a leak on the major components of the game. It’s not verified if this post is 100% legit, so it’s best not to take it as absolute truth for the time being.
According to the post, the story will take place after the events in the books, so players will not be pitting against “He who shall not be named”, but instead will be playing as a customizable Hogwarts’ student and taking on side quests and villainy from a former Death Eater and its small squad of evil-doers. Customization of your student will include choosing if he or she is a muggle, half-blood or pure-blood and you will get to play your character from enrolment all the way until graduation.
It seems that a few mature themes will be dealt with, as well as romantic sub-plots, so the rating of this game will either be M or T. The game will apparently include cameos, and playable quests in places like Hogsmead.
As with most good RPGs, this one, according to the leak, will include a skill tree in which levels will be unlocked via certain points.
“Combat is described as fluid, seemingly reliant on tactics and proper management of energy. You’ll be pitted against creatures from the Harry Potter universe, as well as other rival wizards. Rivals are a big component, according to the post, and they’re generated by a Shadow of Mordor-style Nemesis system. Each playthrough players will have one unique rival, who can be “beaten, killed or made an ally based on decisions you make in the game.””
The game is said to also include an “in-universe” card game which is supposedly on the same level as The Witcher 3’s Gwent, and of course maybe a bonus game of Quidditch!
An official reveal is planned for August this year, with the game’s actual release targeted for June 2021. It seems that it won’t be too long until you get your letter to Hogwarts!
