The next Spider-Man 2 update will not arrive on PS5 until 2024
Insomniac Games’ next significant update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been postponed. Following the October release of Spider-Man 2, Insomniac informed fans that it was working on a number of new features for the game. One of those enhancements occurred to be New Game+, which was supposed to be arriving to Spider-Man 2 in a December patch. Insomniac has already informed fans that this fix will no longer be released during the originally anticipated window.
In a message posted on X, Insomniac stated that it requires additional time to ensure that many of the upcoming features for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are of sufficient quality. As a result, rather than releasing a new patch before the end of the year, Insomniac claims the update will arrive in early 2024. A particular date within this range was not mentioned, but Insomniac stated that further information would be available soon.
“We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards,” Insomniac posted. “We are now targeting early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions — just to name a few! We can’t wait to share more with you in the future.”
Aside from this significant new update with new features, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans are still wondering if DLC for the game would be released in the future. Currently, Insomniac has not committed to any DLC, although certain teasers from the studio have emerged since the release of the Spider-Man sequel. If DLC for Spider-Man 2 occurs, as it did for the original installment, Insomniac will very certainly not reveal it until 2024.
