Things got interesting real fast…
After inadvertently linking Michael de Santa to GTA 6, a podcast host interviewing the actor made one of the biggest U-turns I’ve ever seen.
Larry Lawton, best known for his previous exploits as a real-life jewel thief turned life coach, interviewed actor Ned Luke on his podcast earlier this week. Almost immediately, Lawton slips up and links the Michael de Santa actor to the upcoming GTA 6, despite Rockstar having made no official announcements.
Lawton starts the podcast with: “I’ve got a great interview, Michael from Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto 6, here he is Ned Luke!” During the introduction, Luke is all smiles and waves until he hears GTA 6, at which point his face drops and he starts shaking his head wildly. “GTA 6 is… unknown things right now – just to make that clear,” Luke responds.
Lawton then raises his hands to the camera and declares, “I didn’t say a word!” The pair then chalked up the blunder to a “senior moment” before immediately moving on. Luke clearly isn’t taking any chances and withdraws from the GTA 6 conversation. Although it’s intriguing to think that GTA 5’s protagonist might return in some form or another, it’s best to treat this with a grain of salt for the time being.
Having said that, the GTA 5 actor did mention it again later in the program. “You can’t say much about GTA 6, correct?” Lawton inquires, to which Luke says, “I can’t say anything about GTA 6.” “Can’t say you’re even in it?” says Lawton. which the actor shakes his head and answers, “No,” with a chuckle.
“Who knows if I even am in it or not,” the actor adds, “I mean… historically, I would say no – because they never reuse the protagonists, but I still have the NDA that I’m under, so even if I knew anything, I couldn’t say anything.”
