Outcast: A New Beginning is a direct sequel to the original, which was released in 1999

One of the games that popularized the open-world format is getting a long-awaited sequel, and we now know when it will be released.

Outcast: A New Beginning, which was announced earlier this year, is set to release on March 15, 2024. It’s been a quarter-century since the first game was released on June 25, 1999, but things are looking up. According to THQ Nordic producers Michael Paeck and Andreas Schmiedecker during a hands-off preview of the game, the game will see hero Cutter Slade return to the fantastical alien world of Adelpha in an open world action epic with “light RPG” mechanics such as skill trees and NPC dialogue.

Outcast: A New Beginning, with an estimated runtime of 30-35 hours, is intended not only as a direct sequel to the original but also as a re-entry point for new players and old fans alike. It was originally titled Outcast 2 but was later renamed to reflect the producers’ intention to create an all-encompassing action experience “no matter how familiar you are with Outcast” or its 2017 remaster. Having said that, THQ Nordic has reunited the original creators to assist in the development of the game, so fans of the original Outcast can expect a few easter eggs thrown in for good measure.

The game appears to be massive based on what we’ve seen so far. Adelpha’s beautiful but unruly alien landscape, which combines the natural and mechanical realms. Outcast: A New Beginning will be released on new-generation and PC platforms on March 15, 2024.
