Pokémon Go Gets Updates During Coronavirus Lockdown

Pokemon-Go-Gets-Some-Updates-And-Changes-During-Coronavirus-Lockdown

In July 2016 we were introduced to the extremely popular game Pokémon Go from Niantic.

Years have gone by and the initial hype has died down, but it is still to date a very popular and widely played game.

Niantic has been kind enough to consider all of us that are staying at home during lockdown but still really want to “catch ’em all”.
In a statement the developer said they were:

“prioritizing updates to Pokémon Go features and experiences that can be enjoyed in individual settings.”

Some of these moves are:

  • A 99% reduction on incense packs for us to attract Pokémon to us wherever we are. Increased spawns and the time the incense packs work will be increased to one hour rather than 30 minutes.
  • Incubators will hatch in double speed.
  • PokéStops will drop gifts more often.
  • The Pokémon Exeggutor will be available as a Research Breakthrough Encounter, and will come with bonus stardust till 1st of May 2020.
  • They have temporarily doubled Pokémon Go’s Gym interaction distances so we can “team up in Raid Battles from home”.
  • At midnight every day each player will get a bonus research task, unlike Field Research Tasks these will focus on tasks we can do in the comfort of our homes.
  • It will be possible to activate multiple star pieces, Lucky Eggs and Incense at a time to extend their duration.

There will also be a one Pokécoin bundle which is available as a once off purchase and contains 30 PokéBalls, 20 Great Balls, Razz berries and Pinap berries (this bundle is only available till the 20th of April 2020).

All in all, it seems Niantic has pulled out all the stops to accommodate us in this tough time.
