PUBG Mobile will be getting its own trading cards developed by Local company Spaza studio.
PUBG Mobile has become one of the most popular Battle Royales in mobile gaming and even became the Highest Earning Mobile Game Worldwide in May 2020, with 600 million downloads as of December 2019.
With stats like these, it’s not hard to see that PUBG mobile has become a lucrative and popular installment of the PUBG franchise.
We recently caught up with Brent Swart from Spaza Studio who is currently working on a project to create a set of PUBG Mobile trading cards dubbed “Clutch Cards” and here is what we found out.
When asked about Spaza Studio itself he said:
“Spaza is a bespoke creative studio based in Pretoria, South Africa. We focus on graphic design, illustration, and alternative advertising. We do however cover many branches of the creative industry, from digital, to print, to real-time engagement.
Much like a physical Spaza shop, we want to be able to offer various items for affordable prices, all in one place. A link to some of our previous projects can be found in this email. South African slang “Spaza shop” a small informal shop in a township, often run from a private house.“

Regarding the PUBG Mobile card project itself, he said:
“It’s a celebration of the PUBG mobile community in South Africa. Players are prompted to send through images and stats and we make them digital player cards in return. I want to make these players feel like pros”.
The only requirement to be represented on the cards is that you are a South-African PUBG mobile player.
The idea came about because like many of us Brent is a 90’s kid, and trading cards were a big part of his youth, and like many of his “passion projects” this is “just straight up nostalgia”.
He reportedly has a self-confessed “unhealthy relationship” with PUBG mobile which he has been playing for over a year now.
The cards themselves will include the stats of the player, a photo of the player, and his/her clan logo. The design itself will differ per clan and/or the name of the player. Brent also mentioned here that the “designers are going to have some fun lol.”
The cards will be purely digital for the time being but Brent is hoping to get them printed eventually, adding “where my sponsors at?”
When the cards do eventually take physical form, they will probably have booster packs that the general public can purchase, “like a lucky packet”.
The Physical cards will be collectibles, but we will be able to “battle using the stat stars” for example “‘card A’ has five stars so it will beat “card B’s” 4 stars.” Which will be Quite a simple mechanic according to Brent.
To submit a request to be on the cards you can find all the info here.

This project is a wonderful way to bring the PUBG Mobile community in South -Africa together and we will be watching to see the progress of this awesome new project.
