The upcoming Resident Evil Movie Title has finally been revealed and has been dubbed “Welcome to Raccoon City.”
Development on this highly anticipated Resident Evil film was started in 2017, soon after Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was released.
The director of the movie Johannes Roberts revealed the name of the upcoming movie via an interview at SXSW’s online event.
Besides revealing the title as Welcome To Racoon City, Roberts also talks a little about the storyline. He mentions that it will be an “origins” story and is about a group of different people coming from various angles and all meeting over “one fateful night.” He also mentions that this will be an ensemble piece including Chris, Claire, Jill, and Leon.
Roberts emphasizes that they wanted to deliver an air of “what’s around the next corner”, as in the first game adding suspense with the zombie sounds.
The movie is set in 1998 and will tell the events of the City under siege from infected zombies. The Iconic Spencer mansion in Resident Evil 1 and the Police Station in Resident Evil 2 will both be present in the movie as these two games are the central point for the storyline.

Regarding the CG and special effects, Roberts mentioned that they started with the practical and built on to that to create the game world so you could feel like you were there.
He was clear to say that this movie had nothing to do with the existing movie franchise but was completely separate and was based on the roots of the game and its horror aspect.
It’s interesting to note that the same production company that produced the first Resident Evil film franchise, Constantin is working on Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City.
The Cast of the new movie will be Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.
Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City is set to hit screens in September this year. The expectations are high for the film to bring the game’s original storyline back to the Resident Evil name. And in the eyes of the gamers to bring back the honour that was lost on the original Resident Evil Franchise.
